Re: DC Tabscott into Transfer Portal
I've watched a good bit of local high school football over the years and my take is that for the most part teams run very few complicated plays. Most go with base running plays and some mix in receiver screens and the occasional long pass. It's got to be a huge leap for even a physically talented QB to move to college ball- even at App where we run 6 plays!
We are really getting bad with the former player bashing. There is a whole bunch of speculation about abilities and player/team dynamics, some based on "insider information ".

Two of the other plays are deep balls not to our best WR.AppState89 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 10:07 pmLOLOLOL.....now, that's funny....and true.... 3 of the plays are running up the gut.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 8:32 pmYikes, that’s pretty bad that he can’t remember the 6 plays we run.AppState89 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 7:21 pmShuler couldn't remember the play book even when it was on the board in front of him. Hey guys, stop being so critical of the son of a former NFL player/real estate mogul/senator/current lobbyist. We don't know what adversity he's had to deal with. I mean, he doesn't even have a scholarship! He had to walk-on at the same school where his dad was a successful quarterback and large donor! I can't even imagine!

I see no point in being personally critical of someone who chose App to play his football. He recognized his place in the pecking order and moved on. It has nothing to do with where he came from or his family. We really do forget that these are human beings and not characters in a computer game. I don't know whether he is a good kid or not, and doubt anyone here really knows either.MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 10:23 amHey guys, stop being so critical of the son of a former NFL player/real estate mogul/senator/current lobbyist. There’s a few posts in this thread that would be worthy of a downvote if we still had that capability

What an intolerant take. Only certain people are worthy of our empathy?MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 10:23 amHey guys, stop being so critical of the son of a former NFL player/real estate mogul/senator/current lobbyist. Re: DC Tabscott into Transfer Portal
My bad, Heath Shuler was a House Representative.
Y'all crack me up. The same folks who complain about participation trophies or kids these days being soft or players not being loyal to programs are the same folks who get their panties in a wad if you make a slight, even joking criticism.
My point is, Navy Shuler has gotten to live the kind of life that 99% of the world's population only dreams about. I think he can handle a couple of internet nobodies calling him dumb.

Re: DC Tabscott into Transfer Portal
Not sure if that was directed at me, but my point was that when plays were on the board, he was unable to get it. The playbook wasn't learned, thus never getting any playing time. I was only using 1.0 GPA vs 4.0 GPA to show a point, not his real GPA.
If it wasn't directed at me, then I hope what I typed cleared up the confusion and point I was trying to make about not learning the playbook.

His dad is no rocket scientist but the best HS QB I ever saw .He had good handlers after his pro career[ which revealed the cerebral part of the game at that level] and they have played the system since then.

You think more of your buddy who would rather ride the bench than play?MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 10:23 amHey guys, stop being so critical of the son of a former NFL player/real estate mogul/senator/current lobbyist. Re: DC Tabscott into Transfer Portal
This argument is irrelevant. Plus, Shuler chose to transfer to Tennessee and walk-on where he will ride the bench instead of playing. So, he basically made the same decision. He didn't choose to transfer to, like, Lenoir-Rhyne for playing time.bcoach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 11:44 amYou think more of your buddy who would rather ride the bench than play?MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 10:23 amHey guys, stop being so critical of the son of a former NFL player/real estate mogul/senator/current lobbyist. Re: DC Tabscott into Transfer Portal
I think it's fair to point out when a recruit turns out to be a miss, especially when we've had a series of them at the most important position on the field.
Beyond that, getting into implying that people are dumb - regardless of whether it's true - isn't really the best look IMO.
