Just curious because I have no idea but what are those assessments based on? Neither of them played.
Conversation with those in position to make assessments.

I always wondered why some pretty good (not necessarily great) high school QB's go to schools where they really aren't going to play or if they play it will be maybe one year. I know as a competitor they all believe they will take the job but usually the writing is on the wall pretty quickly. Now with the portal no marginal QB wants to stick around.
He's one of our highest rated recruits ever. He didn't expect to come here to not play. He just got beat out.
As did most of the other recruits near the top of that list who have had time to pan out or not.

That's yet to be decided, but there will be 3-4 guys in the running, and Tabscott wasn't going to be one of them.

The leader in the clubhouse currently is Burger. But, Aguillar, McHugh, and McBride will all have something to say about it.

I was about to say that I think Burger has to be the leader now but Aguilar would not have been taken if they did not think he has the skills to challenge. Would you be surprised if it was anyone other than Burger though? It just feels like it is his job to lose.

My bet is on Burger, but if he gets beat out I'll be off the wall excited because that means the winner is more than capable to have beaten out what seems to be a very talented Burger. Small sample size I get it, but going back through his highlights from high school, his limited minutes and hearing what his coaches have said, he looks the part of a big time QB with a lot of runway left.

Take a flyer on bloodlines sometimes. We just did that 2 weeks ago. Might work out, might not.

While I agree with you to a certain extent. When hired - Drink looked mostly at ratings not much scouting went into it.

How crazy of an idea would it be to let schools play a real Spring game (or 2) against another school to let them actually see players compete for positions? We will have 3-4 guys competing for the QB position but can you really get a feel for who is the best practicing in a red jersey against your team? I'm not advocating a separate season but only a home and away against fairly local teams- like bring in ETSU or go to Charlotte.

Best of luck to DC. Young man stood out on the sidelines. He was always engaging his teammates in a positive way. Hope he finds a fit.

There are some coaches (Dabo is one) pushing for controlled scrimmages in spring ball. College FB is only level not allowing this (HS, NFL). Other college sports allow this.

I know sometimes we have had a spring game and sometimes we haven't (more often than not), but I wonder if that could be something in the talks given the need to a.) see young guys at game speed and b.) keep the fans excited after a tough season.

I bet if you could put a nice dollar figure next to it, the powers that be would get on board.

Who? Coakley’s son is a PWO. I consider players getting a full ride a real flyer. PWO doesn’t really cost anything.

Shuler couldn't remember the play book even when it was on the board in front of him. Like having a GPA of 1.0 instead of 4.0. I know this first hand from a former player. That's one reason Shuler never got a chance to start.

Yikes, that’s pretty bad that he can’t remember the 6 plays we run. 😉😉😉

He was noticeably slow in HS and I'm not talking foot speed.
