Trevion Cooley please. Unless he goes home to NC State with his little brother.
Any particular reason as to why him?
We saw how banged up an RB room can get this year. We offered him out of HS. He's an in-state kid with a ton of talent. we lose 2 RBS this year, that we know of. He's athletic enough to also play some slot if needed.
All true.

Positives about him:
We recruited him so there is familiarity.

He has completed only two years of classes. Given that they are likely to be mostly general education classes, he is less likely to lose a lot of credits.

Adding a proven player with pass catching ability to depth is a good thing.

Negatives (potential negatives)
Why is he transferring?

Assuming Noel is back, you now have 3 Juniors, a Senior, a RS Freshman and a True Freshman. How does bringing him in affect Robert’s view of future playing time?

You are now very top heavy at the RB spot where you could potentially lose three of them after 2023 and then you are screwed.

Not against your suggestion, but these are things that you have to look at in terms of roster management.

We are going very very hard after JUCO prospects based off 247. A ton of coaching changes already happening and kids are decommitting left and right from other schools that we had offers out to. We will be fine and the roster will improve! Excited to see what SC can recruit to the come play on the mountain. Now if he can just coach!

Well, we offered Willie Anderson’s son (long NFL career at WR) who just went in the portal 2 days ago. Charleston Souther transfer with NFL bloodlines. Oh man this off-season is going to be FUN (and a bloodbath). Tough job for the coaches with NIL and portal, don’t wish that gauntlet upon anyone.

Figured. I think State is losing their RB commit to UGA soon so all of that makes sense. Would have been cool to land the Cooley’s.

I don't know for a fact, but that is what I'm thinking based on some things I've heard -- namely a tweet from his brother saying something along the lines "time for us to play together again."

You know, it's just us whose heads are exploding at 6-6. Rest of the world saw the Carolina game which was exciting as all hell, beating A&M, College Game Day then the hail-mary victory. After that, nobody watched but us. Clark is Clark, he's got likeable, almost a Madden-esq quality to him. App is very marketable and will do well recruiting. All they gotta do is coach and I think with minor adjustments they can.

There is a lot of truth in this that most people don't get. We all are very tied into our program so we know what kind of season we have had but most of the rest of the football fans in this country have no clue. I live in Florida and most people who I deal with (usually SEC fans but some FSU and Miami guys) assume we had a great season because of the coverage we got in the beginning. I was at a family wedding a couple weeks ago and everyone there was asking about App (because they knew I went there) and talking about our great season despite the fact that it has been anything but great. Point is, most fans have no clue we have struggled this year. All that being said, we should never have finished 6-6 an there isn't a game we played that I don't think we could have won with better decisions. I know our talent on D was not what we are used to, but they made enough stops throughout the year that our Offense should have been able to carry us. No excuses for the play calling, RB rotation, going for it on 4th in absurd situations and not taking FGs when we could have. But again, only App fans are really aware of these shortcomings.

Do we know who is hitting the portal yet? So many rumblings of people like Nate leaving over the course of the last year. Are we going to lose anyone that’s gotten significant playing time (Nate, Stroman, Kanye, etc)

Stroman is vital to keep. One of the most frustrating things was seeing him underutilized. I have to think that some WR will transfer out just based on numbers/scheme. I have an opinion based on who may get jumped in the depth chart but won't share because it is just that - an opinion with no fact.

Why do we have a thread for hypothetical transfers OUT OF App? I'm not naive but why assume that our players are not happy here? We haven't seen max exoduses before. Maybe they want the challenge to turn it around next season and right the ship.
I think my original post has been lost in the people not reading. My post wasn't looking at players leaving, it was looking at possible players to target that are in the portal or may be in the portal.

As the portal doesn’t open for a couple of weeks, it may be more prudent to look at positions that we may need to hit. CB and Safety (specifically Free) are needs that can be addressed in the portal.

Texas St OL, Hergel, enters the portal. McBride may be able to help here if he’s a player.

Christian Wells is EXACTLY who I was referring to here. I thought it was odd when I heard he was missing GaSo due to an undisclosed injury during practice. He was often injured and this allows stroman to step up. Not worried about this loss. Thank you Christian.
