He had a big impact on the 3A championship game tonight. Beaufort won it.

Not sure how I see changing the source of a recruit changes culture. The source being "out of high school" or " transfer portal". Your culture is set of values, ethics and behavior. That shouldn't change unless leadership allows it to change.
In regards to developing under the radar guys...if we get the transfer with one or two years at P5, I would think they have developed some since high school due to expectations and demands being greater than high school...so hopefully the developing process is not as steep for a transfer.

I’m assuming you mean Brendan Harrington? I thought he had a career ending injury?

I’m interested to see where guys that transfer out of App end up. Wells and Smith are decent players, but I can’t imagine they garner any P5 interest. I’m afraid for many G5 players that hit the portal they won’t end up in even the same level of school, and perhaps FCS. Definitely a risky game to play.

I mentioned this before. Rick Neuheisel was talking about the transfer portal last week and he said that 57% of all G5 players who had entered the portal were not on a roster anywhere this year.

It’s definitely a risky proposition for a G5 player. I hope it works out for these guys.

Recruit under the radar players and develop them.

Other G5 programs are finding ways to get backup P5 talent that are impatient or recruited over.

If we adopt that method it will impact culture.
What's the difference in recruiting under-the-radar players and developing them and recruiting guys from the portal who aren't getting the attention they should at a P5? Either way, you are getting a player with a chip on his shoulder, who wants to prove himself, and wants to work hard to be successful. You're welcome to disagree, but I don't see how the portal will stop App from getting "App guys." I mean, players have always been able to transfer, it's just easier now. App had players transfer out and in long before the portal became a thing.

I haven't seen him post anywhere, do you have a source or something? This move would be confusing to me.

I had a conversation with a friend the other day about this. Most see the portal and think, "well this makes it easy for players to transfer, so they can go wherever they want." But it also makes it easier to get lost; fall out of football entirely.

Someone above said they wonder how many guys end up in FCS. This could maybe kind of be what some of them want. I'd assume not every player in the portal is looking to move up, they may just be looking for playing time. Christian Wells may be looking at himself and saying, "I could be just another good receiver on an ok team that will maybe go 7-5, 8-4 next year. OR I could be the star receiver on an FCS or D2 team that goes on a deep playoff run." It depends on personal goals and expectations.

Brendan Harrington? He has not posted anything on twitter. So far it has only been C. Wells & L. Smith.

No worries, you had me nervous haha. If a guy like that leaves after a supposed severe injury, I would be worried about our locker room.

I wasn’t going to comment since it hadn’t been confirmed. But when I first saw the initial report that he was transferring, my head went to that he wanted to play and our Doctors would not clear him.

My thought as well. Believe it has happened in the recent past.
