Time to open the playbook wide open, pull out all the tricks. No stone left unturned!

Be nice to see the offense we saw week 1.
I completely disagree with you. Obviously, we aren’t coaches, but I’d use the playbook we used the last 3 quarters against GA State. Southern has the statistically worst run defense in the conference. I’d run it down their throats, use as much clock as possible, shorten the game, and keep their offense off the field. In other words, I’d do what Southern used to do.
I tend to agree with what you say. The only wrinkle I'd like to see is for us to still mix in some play action and hit them long to keep the run defense honest. Don't just let them jam the box and stuff our run offense.

They should make us co-head coaches.

I watched a few minutes of southern vs Marshall. Southern’s pass D looked atrocious. We all know they play out of their minds against us, but I sure hope we take advantage of their secondary more than we did against coastal and Marshall.
Their entire defense is atrocious. Check the stats on ESPN.com. Stink is at the bottom, or near it, in every defensive statistic. The only games they’ve won are ones they managed to out score their opponent. I firmly believe App’s defense will be good enough to get a few stops and win this game.

Thanks for that gem.

Going to be a tough game. We are projected to win by ESPN, Sagarin, and Massey all by around 4.5 points.

Offenses look similar, they gain slightly more yards, we score slightly more points. Our defense has played a little better than theirs. They look equally bad run and pass defensively on paper, and we aren't very good against the pass (which is where they get most of their yards). We average scoring 34 points and giving up 25 points. They average scoring 32 points and giving up 31 points. I see them trying to win by throwing the ball and outscoring us.

We have five common opponents (CCU, GSU, JMU, ODU and UM) and both teams are 2 and 3 but arriving there by different means. They lost to GSU, Coastal and UM, and we lost to Coastal, JMU, and UM. Against the five common opponents we are averaging scoring 29 and giving up 25. They are averaging scoring 29 and giving up 32.

I hope we go into this game with the idea that this could be a high scoring race. Points will be scored by both teams and they can throw the ball. Can we get pressure? Can we get some stops? Will our offense go into this game knowing that this could be a high scoring affair and come up with a game plan to maximize points with our possessions. I hope we come out blazing and can keep it up for four quarters because I think we are going to need it. If we start slow we may dig a hole that we cannot get out of.

Huh? We are giving up 204 yards a game. Third best in the conference and a yard or two better than the 2021 team.

And up until ODU where we let up a bunch of garbage time yards, we were first in passing yards allowed...

I believe that 60% of ODUs yards came in the 4th quarter.

I think the thought process, from appearances only maybe, is that against the better teams, CCU, etc., their offense seemed to get the yardage when it needed to. Whatever, you call it, it seems that we cannot get that big stop in 3rd down to change the tide so to speak. Overall, our numbers look pretty good, however, it seems the key stop cannot be made for whatever reason...

Block well. Tackle well. No turnovers. Limit penalties.

Wow. Are y'all calling me a hater? I haven't asked for anyone to be fired and I don't get personal about any of our players. In fact, I've quit posting during games and just let things play out.

Maybe what I should have said is that we are better against the run than we are the pass. However in our five losses, we have averaged giving up 264 passing yards per game, and in all five, all of them have been over what our yearly average is. Apparently we aren't as good against teams that are capable of throwing the ball as those that are better at running the ball. GS is definitely better at throwing the ball than running. Do you think we can hold them to under 204 yards? If we do then we should win....

Passing stats are skewed. We played a triple option FCS team, another really bad FCS team and Texas 4&8 who can't throw the ball.

Against teams who have capable passing attacks we have looked bad and we have given up a lot of 3rd and long conversions. I certainly would not tout our pass defense as a strength.

Lol
You know what I meant! Their defense didn’t get stops or create turnovers for points. Their offense just happened to get one more possession than the other team.

Anyone have a history of "Stink". Never inquired when in school many years ago...it just always was and how it has always been..😂
There's a paper mill right outside town. Literally, the whole place stinks. And it goes downhill from there.

In our five losses, the victors have averaged 269 yards a game. GS leads the conference in passing yardage. The have given up the fewest sacks in the conference and we go stretches in games without putting much pressure on the QB. On the flip side they are pretty weak against both the run and pass. That should give our OC plenty of options for Chase and company. On the surface it would appear to be a high scoring game. But, in this series anything can happen.

I completely disagree with you. Obviously, we aren’t coaches, but I’d use the playbook we used the last 3 quarters against GA State. In other words, I’d do what Southern used to do.
I think in the first quarter we will have to be more creative than that. Coastal had a bad run defense statistically, but they loaded the box and had success because we didn't make them pay for it by throwing....or doing anything else. Once we have the momentum, we can shorten the game by running.

My key to victory is Nate Noel getting 20-25 touches. And blitz 40-50% of the time. Bring it!

Vantrese (sp?) gets rid of the ball too quick for blitzing to work.

Well, sitting back and letting him pick out zone apart isn’t going to work
