I'm sorry that I expect the multi millionaire, at our expense, to be accountable for the team he supposedly has lead for 3 years. All I see and hear are damn excuses. I'm also angry that Appalachian State chose a coach on the basis of where he graduated as opposed to experience and demonstrated competency on leading anything. That my friends, is total bush league, along with allowing a defensive coordinator to assume the roll that he was removed from, by competent leadership, on the basis of what exactly?
If that is how you feel then there isn’t any point in discussing this any further with you. You have obviously made up your mind and obviously know way more about what we should and shouldn’t do. Why aren’t you the AD? Or the Chancellor? Or are you? Any way. Enjoy your mood and have a blessed day.
No excuses for those two fine points? Shocking.

It's funny how you need to be an expert on here to state the obvious to some people. You must not review legal documents before you sign them if you're no lawyer, or review your taxes if you're no accountant. Just sad.
I never claimed to be an expert on here but I do have some insight as to what is actually happening. Anyways, I don’t feel the need to be the punching bag for projecting your insecurities.
You are surely no expert, but you make a fine keyboard psychologist. Cheers to you!

Not a good way to go out. App players shoving southern fans last night on the field. Ugh. It starts at the top. SC has to get more disciplined moving forward. Way too many penalties, late hits, celebrations etc.

Thank you for the stats. That’s interesting. Is there a break down in the kind of penalties? It seems like we had way more holding and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties this year, but I could be wrong.

(And, yes, I could probably look this information up myself, but I don’t want to)

This was the first year that we did not have a Top 30 scoring defense and even with The Citadel and Robert Morris, we faced our toughest overall schedule

If you wanted to go real deep, you would also look at the timing of the penalties (Texas State would come to mind). Plus, in the past we had a "bend, but don't break defense" that would often limit the impact. Purely speculation, but I also think we flipped more than in previous years with our punting game/special teams.

And then, there's the going for it on 4th down and not making it, that are not factored in. But, I was watching the a P5 game last night and the announcers questioned a team punting from their own 40 yard line based on the analytics of "today's game"

It's funny how you need to be an expert on here to state the obvious to some people. You must not review legal documents before you sign them if you're no lawyer, or review your taxes if you're no accountant. Just sad.

Lol. A Shawn hater? Shawn is a fine fella from everything I know of him. The fact he was awarded a position he was wholly unprepared for, with a resume that didn't appear to warrant it, I hate that.

As for you, Seattle, I read two different posts last night with you asking another poster if he was "turned on." You're opinion means precisely duece to me.

Auburn and Nebraska are cautionary tales. And, as someone else pointed out when ECU replaced Ruffin McNeil they hired a coach who won nine games in 3 years. That said, it doesn't mean there aren't changes that need to be made internally. This was the worst season in almost a decade and a repeat next season would be real cause for concern and perhaps a need to make a change at the top. And, some will disagree with this sentiment, but I believe SC has the right to try and solve whatever ails us.

Wow. 94 succinctly laid out some db woes we’ve had and that’s how you go at him? He actually provided specifics. There are a few posters on here that actually know what they are taking about. 94 is one and he’s pretty cool in his posts. Attacking him Is not cool.
It’s OK. He’s a Shawn hater and he isn’t interested in being anything else.

I’m glad I have your attention. Rail on me
All you want because I’m not jumping into the hate pool, but when posters are trying to make solvent posts in response to asked questions it just looks like you wanna complain which is fine but own it. It’s funny though that you align with the most negative aspects of this board. Bully to you my man
That's railing? You narcissist. Go on with yourself.
I think you might not know what narcissist
Means

Auburn and Nebraska are cautionary tales. And, as someone else pointed out when ECU replaced Ruffin McNeil they hired a coach who won nine games in 3 years. That said, it doesn't mean there aren't changes that need to be made internally. This was the worst season in almost a decade and a repeat next season would be real cause for concern and perhaps a need to make a change at the top. And, some will disagree with this sentiment, but I believe SC has the right to try and solve whatever ails us.
App is experiencing the Big Time College Football Fan. I am just thankful that I went to Appalachian and not some other school in the Southern or Sun Belt.

Definitely reasonable to think a fumble was more likely than missing a chip shot
If you’re that scared you might never win another game….that was scared football….good coaches use opportunity….they don’t shrink from it….great example was GS calling the fake field goal
I, and others on this board, were critiquing Clark’s chicken shit football in 2020. It hasn’t changed. That’s why he gets pantsed by Napier, Chadwell, and now Helton. Those dudes don’t play scared. Scared money don’t make money (though Clark is gonna get a million dollars when he is fired at the end of next season, so…)
Might get $3M. Gillin might be making calls right now to gauge interest. My ass would be calling Luke Combs
I don’t think he’d be a very good coach. Unless he took a managerial role and hire really good assistants that did all the game planning and playcalling.
Sounds like the Mack Brown model. Top 25 ain't that bad.

Not a good way to go out. App players shoving southern fans last night on the field. Ugh. It starts at the top. SC has to get more disciplined moving forward. Way too many penalties, late hits, celebrations etc.
“SC has to get more disciplined moving forward. Way too many penalties, late hits, celebrations etc.“

This was another one of those things that was mentioned repeatedly at the end of the 2020 season, yet here we are…
Per Sports Reference
Penalties Per Game:

2017 7.0 63.9 yards per game
2018 6.3 57.5 ypg
2019 6.8 63.9 ypg
2020 7.3 67.8 ypg
2021 6.1 53.2 ypg
2022 5.6 51.6 ypg

Turnovers Per Game:
2017 1.1 pg (Turnover Ratio +0.9)
2018 1.3 pg (+0.5)
2019 0.6 pg (+1.1)
2020 1.4 pg (+0.1)
2021 1.9 ph (-0.3)
2022 0.9 pg (+0.8)
Thank you for the stats. That’s interesting. Is there a break down in the kind of penalties? It seems like we had way more holding and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties this year, but I could be wrong.

(And, yes, I could probably look this information up myself, but I don’t want to)
You could go through the game logs. I may go through them later once the pain has subsided.
I was more talking about the after the whistle and after game situations like the questionable words our DL used last year and now players shoving opponents fans after the game. That kind of stuff don’t fly. Gotta reel that kinda character crap in.

Good to know we are trending back to pre Clark penalty stats though, improvement!!
