All the radio stations pay a licensing fee to carry the game (fee deal can be a paid for some markets). WKBC would pay a little more to be known as the flagship station.
There are 2 types of ads during the games network and station.
The network ads are sold by Learfield and pay for the broadcast themselves.
The station ads are ads that are sold by the radio stations during certain times during the game to allow station to cover the cost of fees and station costs. There can be a shared ad revenue from station ads in leu of licensing fees.

Nobody is going to risk being killed asking/answering a simple question or two on the MMB, but at 65 miles an hour on Interstate 73 there is a risk of injury or death.
