They’ve slowly been rolling out the announcements of donations. I know of one that was finalized in November and was only recently announced.
Here is the link to the fall sports streaming schedule.

To "fully fund" a project like this it's going to take a major donor. I must have missed the announcement of this nature.

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
Material and supply costs have substantially increased in the last couple of years. That is a fact. It is not the school or the contractor's fault. You can try to lean on the contractors and force their hand but what you may end up with is cutting corners in ways you don't want to happen. I don't like it but many of these contracts are structured to provide material cost changes or else they would go out of business OR you will pay through the nose to get an upfront guarantee on total price. Somebody has to absorb the increase.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 10:06 pmStop with this sense making stuff. It doesn't belong here. All that is just excuses and we have to figure out how to think outside of the box and teach contractors how to get their materials at a lower cost.T-Dog wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 9:59 pmI think what 311 is referring to is the NEZ going over budget by $5 million and App having to get UNC System approval for it, and/or the project taking longer to complete than anticipated.
It gets old blaming COVID, but really, that's what to blame. And the NEZ cost issues were not an outlier. Just on Friday, the BOT approved asking the UNC System to raise the App 105 project ceiling from $11.8 million to $15.8 million. The first phase of the new Innovation District (where Broyhill use to be near the baseball stadium) is up to $64 million from $54 million. It's all for the same reason - supply chain issues and costs of materials skyrocketing.
Or, let's just get the construction management majors (who are actually involved) to do it all! No reason to pay extra for people that do it for a living and know the codes when we have students that know how to read books about it and can get it done for way cheaper!
Who do you blame when you fill up your car with gas?

Can't believe I am needing to say this... my post was very much tongue in cheek. This board notoriously goes crazy when someone brings up "excuses" as to why things have changed.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:13 amMaterial and supply costs have substantially increased in the last couple of years. The building market may be beginning to shift . Doubt the impact is substantial in short term .

Funding was never "secured" they are working on this now. But the idea that athletics had the money and was ready to go was always ridiculous. Anything that may happen has been pushed off at least three years.

They definitely don't. We'll see how long it will before the East side is upgraded. You can repeat anything DG says to you. But that doesn't mean you're being told the truth. See, that's the thing, Doug can tell you anything he wants. You can believe anything you want. But they don't have the money to expand now. They are definitely working on it. But it is not currently secured.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:18 pmThey definitely have secured funding.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:13 pmFunding was never "secured" they are working on this now. Yes it is. And this isn't coming from DG. It's coming from the funding source.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:28 pmThey definitely don't. Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
Construction start date depends on other projects completing first. All I know is it's still expected to be completed by start of 2025 season. I personally don't think that's going to happen, but that is the goal.Tru2ASU wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:27 pm[tweet][/tweet]So you're saying funding has been secured, and construction will start in April/May?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:18 pmThey definitely have secured funding.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:13 pmFunding was never "secured" they are working on this now. So we have someone willing to put down what I can only imagine is $10MM toward this and it’s a done deal?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:30 pmYes it is. And this isn't coming from DG. Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
Great if that is indeed true. One other factor, is who will build it. The only construction companies that will build on campus are backed up already with multiple projects on campus already.

It's more than that, but yes, we have an entity ready to give the money.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:36 pmSo we have someone willing to put down what I can only imagine is $10MM toward this and it’s a done deal?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:30 pmYes it is. You are telling everyone on here that funding is secured, now you're admitting that was just a goal, which you're now admitting you don't think is going to happen.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:31 pmConstruction start date depends on other projects completing first. Huh? Where did I say that? The funding has nothing to do when construction starts. Nope, I'm just asking for the "expert" to tell what he knows. I made the point in October that it's not like athletics is sitting on the cash. I know they are shopping this around. But if anyone is going to say "funding is secured" like its an absolute fact. Show your cards. I didn't believe in October that the money was there, and I don't believe it now. I think its a plan they are working on. A plan I support for the record.
