You are telling everyone on here that funding is secured, now you're admitting that was just a goal, which you're now admitting you don't think is going to happen.
Huh? Where did I say that? The funding has nothing to do when construction starts. If it did, it would have started last fall.

There are just other things that need to be done before construction starts.
Sooo, where's the funding coming from. Let the world know.
Not that I am looking to get into this swinging contest, but have you been told that we don’t have the funding in place?

Nope, I'm just asking for the "expert" to tell what he knows. I made the point in October that it's not like athletics is sitting on the cash. I know they are shopping this around. But if anyone is going to say "funding is secured" like its an absolute fact. Show your cards. I didn't believe in October that the money was there, and I don't believe it now. I think its a plan they are working on. A plan I support for the record.
I've told you what I know and allowed to say. You just won't accept it.

It'll be public information soon enough.

So it isn’t good enough to just take his word for it? If you have been around this regime long enough, then you should know that information drips out of the faucet. Whether you choose to believe him or not, if you have no information to refute his statements then it isn’t worth arguing about it. IMO.

Has the design of the East side been approved? Development team been picked- GC/Civil/Structural/Architect? Don’t these things have to be bid on since it’s a state project?

Just asking some questions to see if August 2025 delivery date is even feasible. I’m with News, don’t think it’ll happen at all.

NEZ took 30 months from demo to C.O- March 2019- September 2021. Covid stalled that project for a few months but from a site constructability standpoint the NEZ is a lot better than the East side.

They definitely have secured funding.
They definitely don't. We'll see how long it will before the East side is upgraded. You can repeat anything DG says to you. But that doesn't mean you're being told the truth. See, that's the thing, Doug can tell you anything he wants. You can believe anything you want. But they don't have the money to expand now. They are definitely working on it. But it is not currently secured.
Yes it is. And this isn't coming from DG. It's coming from the funding source.
So we have someone willing to put down what I can only imagine is $10MM toward this and it’s a done deal?
It's more than that, but yes, we have an entity ready to give the money.
An entity is a curious choice of word.

I may have missed it. Was there an answer to what "funding is secured" really means. I saw some guesses but nothing definite from those in the know.

At this point, there isn’t a great deal of information made public as to where the money is coming from. I imagine that those either inside the AD or COE are the only ones privy to any solid details.

Trust but verify.

This would be the longest period of time a donor giving millions would be kept secret in the history of Appalachian athletics. I want that to be factual.

At this point I seriously doubt this project will be done by the start of the 2025 season, which is 30 months away.

The Athletics Center on the west side started with demo right after the 2005 season and was finished by the start of the 2009 season, nearly four years later.

The docs approved for simply starting the new $30M practice facility project have a completion date listed as December 2025.

And if that new practice facility is gonna be $30M, this East Side project will be much more.

I have no hard evidence here but think of entity as a business that is paying to have their brand/name all over (on?) the stadium. Likely a multi-year millions of dollars contract, not coming from just one individual. I.E. we may not be walking into ‘Kidd Brewer Stadium’ anymore…

Let's see who can pick the craziest sponsor for the stadium.

I'd like Vulcan to own naming rights to the ROCK.

I’m ok with KBS being replaced. All things have a timeline.

I’m going with Mars Stadium. Kids brewer takes the naming of our tax and business ethics programs 😂

There was a group of about 50 of us at a meeting in the fall that got the information. I am sure there are several others as well.

I wouldn't expect the stadium to change names, but don't have any insight to that.

Now that First Citizens Bank bought $72B of assists from the failed SVB Bank for like $16B…… they can afford to give Apps $5-10M for the naming rights First Citizens Bank Stadium and Jerry Moore field……

Not that this matters, First Citizens bought 88.5 billion in SVB assets for 72B. They got a 16.5B discount from the Fed/FDIC/Treasury.
