TV coverage of Troy/WKU @WKU
Anyone watching the Troy/WKU @ WKU on ESPN+. The coverage is incredible and it doesn't appear to be on a mothership channel such as SEC,ESPNU,ESPN2.
Is this just WKU's normal coverage?? If so, we need to hire their person away.

I hear you and this is not aimed at you, but I hear $$$ all the time. No way WKU has more money than APPSTATE. It has to be something more to it.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 8:57 pm$$$ on nice equipment and technologyspacemonkey wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 8:09 pmAnyone watching the Troy/WKU @ WKU on ESPN+. While the WKU and App State football budgets are the same, the economy in Boone can't compete with Bowling Green, KY. First, Bowling Green has it's own local TV stations (which may be where some of the broadcast equipment and engineering come from. Second, there is a ton of money in Bowling Green. Fruit of the Loom/Russell Athletic are HQ'd in BG, as is Houchens Industries. Finally, Bowling Green is the home of the Corvette, with GM's plant in town.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 9:45 pmI hear you and this is not aimed at you, but I hear $$$ all the time. Watching App on ESPN+, football plays can sometimes interrupt Avery Hall's ramblings and he just says "wow" and stops talking as DJ takes over.

I am talking camera quality, camera angles, number of cameras, TV graphics. WKU looked like an ESPN production. JMU's telecast was horrible today.

I noticed all the videos for App game against Citadel were much better than I have seen in years past. The quality and number of cameras and angles are comparable to an ESpNU feed. The weakness still is in who runs replays . Or more specifically the lack there of.

I think that production will improve with this impressive hire:

Does anyone know if the production facilities are run through the Beasley Broadcast Center or is full production done in Ricks Athletic Complex?

I think gameday production is done in a small trailer beside the indoor facility.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 9:53 amI think that production will improve with this impressive hire:

That's the way it's done when ESPN rolls into town. The university has to produce all of the ESPN+ content so I don't understand why unless we rent an equipped trailer just for football season. What about basketball?goapps93 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 12:28 pmI think gameday production is done in a small trailer beside the indoor facility.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 9:53 amI think that production will improve with this impressive hire:

Not sure about basketball. I just know I see the trailer when I drive up and back from Top of the Rock lot on gamedays. Door is usually open and can see lots of screens and control center. It's a pretty small trailer. I have no idea what else may be inside the Athletic Center.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 12:44 pmThat's the way it's done when ESPN rolls into town. Re: TV coverage of Troy/WKU @WKU
If you have ESPN+ the on demand game is out there. It was a good game. Troy played well, as did WKU. It may be worth your time just to see the production.Yosefus wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 4:35 pmWorst I have seen even in a televised high school game. WKU is conf-USA I wonder how they handle production also did they go to ESPN this year? Why is the game even on EPSN+ if it is a home Conf-USA game???

Re: TV coverage of Troy/WKU @WKU
Yes, he is. I spoke with him in the parking lot before the JMU game. He had worries about the Dukes. Said when he watched their film, they were so much like us. The coolest thing is he is not only doing our color commentary for ESPN+ but he is a true Mountaineer and Yosef Club member. He admitted that all he could say after the hail Mary was WOW!!! Also, his son, AJ, is a receiver on the team. Avery loves App State!
