He's not at the top of the list.

I would absolutely stay at App for 900k. I think Clark would as well. He calls it Gods country for a reason. He understands what many of us understand about this beautiful area. I will be worried when the WV job opens up or another school not in a huge city like Atlanta. Not worried about Ga Tech. Looking at it from a different angle - it would be interesting if Clark was hired away the same year as Satterfield was fired. Not saying this year but seems like a decent possibility over the next 3 years.

Not that it is written in stone, but Clark has said to donors that he doesn’t intend to leave.

From the Watauga Democrat, "In total, Clark is set to make $900,020 in 2022 before factoring in potential incentive compensations."
Collins was making around $3 million at Tech last year.
I know I sound silly, but I would absolutely trade roughly $2 million, rehabbing a dead program, and commuting on 75/85 everyday for life in the High Country, coaching at my alma mater, and coaching at a school with a winning tradition and culture.
That is easy to say on a message board but ridiculous to say in real life. So what you are saying is that you would turn down generational wealth for your family because of your pride and attachment to a university. I would take that extra 2 mil every time. My priority in that scenario is giving my family the best future that I can. My alma mater university will be just fine. You should never put your pride before your family.
I'm saying I wouldn't take that money to go to Georgia Tech, not that I wouldn't take that money to go somewhere else. I don't live far from Atlanta, and I love to visit the city. However, I'd much rather work and raise my kids in a place like Boone than Atlanta.

Many coaches tell lies to donors all the time like that but I believed Clark when he said it because he doesn’t have an agent. The wording intend tells me that there are offers he would take but until he hires an agent I don’t see him leaving.

If a coach hires an agent is he paying said agent fees even if he is not looking to leave his current job? Can't blame a coach for not wanting to lose 10% of his salary for nothing.

Most agents only get 1% from coaches. They can get between 1.5-3% from players. Coaches get agents when they are looking to move up because they can't handle that and do their own job. If Shawn does not have an agent then he is absolutely not looking to go anywhere. Most agents who get 10-20% are hollywood actor agents and mega-marketing people. It is not that way in football.

Agents have way more expenses to pay out if they rep a player such as training, monthly stipend, and for top players often pay them an "up front marketing guarantee" to sign. I know D'Marco Jackson got a lot of money just to sign with his agent this past year and he still fired the guy.

With all these hypothetical posts, does anyone on this message board know for sure that Coach Clark has expressed interest in the Georgia Tech job, or is it just speculation and assumption that he would jump at it because of the monetary rewards?

It's speculation based on a poorly researched article. Clark has not put his name in the hat for the job. And he won't.

Word is that Chadwell will fly to Atlanta this week to interview.
I saw a tweet saying the same thing, but it came from a Ga. Southern guy. Looked like he may have been trying to rile the Beach Chickens up prior to their game this weekend. Then again could be true.

I'm told Tech is going to hire an AD first and have that person find a coach .Kind of blows holes in the Chadwell interviewing on Thursday report. There may or may not be interest in Shawn or Chickenwell .If DG is interested in Atlanta he would be a strong candidate .

Is Gawga Tech's FB coaching position open now or at the end of the current season?

Clay Helton was in town as well meeting with administration. They'll hire the AD first, but are weeding out candidates now. Chadwell and Helton are just two of 5ish names I've heard.

Clark is not one of those names.

Even with the extremely high academic standards, GA Tech could and should be a very monster of a program.

Let me get this straight:

Helton has been in Statesboro all of five minutes and now he wants to trade up?

What about those amazing articles being written about all he’s doing to bring the pride back to the Eagles?

Do we have it on good authority that Helton is interested in the GT job?

Helton was at Ruth's Chris with Ga Tech admin the night the firings were announced. If anybody thought Helton would stay after any kind success (beating Nebraska), they were crazy. Helton took the job to have a job.
