As crazy as the year has been, I’m not sure there are 25 top 25 teams at the moment.

Unless we totally dominate the next 3 opponents, we are not going to have the opportunity to be ranked.
JMU - first year FBS; voters discount this
Citadel - FCS team, does not help
Texas St. Not a very good SBC team, no credit for this win.
All I care about is winning each week...it matter at end of regular season....

We definitely aren’t and I could see it go either way. It would not shock me if we lose 2 more unless we correct some things. Just take it one game at a time and hope to go 1-0. JMU is a big game and all we need to do is just win and our goals remain in sight.

Re: Poll watch
The most concerning aspect to me is that no g5 teams are ranked unless you include BYU as a g5. It is good news for App but no G5 worthy is concerning.

Re: Poll watch
I'm with you on what matters. I think voters understand what we have gone through. We did not fall despite the close loss. Voters know that a bad game can happen. If we perhaps win by 2 against JMU and 10 or so against Citadel and Robert Morris then I think they would punish us. I believe ESPN will want us ranked and hard to leave out a 7-1 App State team with a win over A&M heading into Coastal Carolina. I'm just worried about JMU now though because beating them is all that matters right now.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 6:53 pmUnless we totally dominate the next 3 opponents, we are not going to have the opportunity to be ranked.

Re: Poll watch
Definitely good news for us because if we win out we are in the driver's seat. There will be some G5s rise up because many of these P5s will beat up on each other and fall out. Voters will put a 10-2 or 11-1 G5 over a 8-4 P5. I would say teams to watch are App, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Air Force, James Madison, East Carolina, Marshall, Tulane, and Wyoming. A lot of parity and could see a team rise up and surprise. I don't worry about trends until we get to the middle of October. Let's see where we and others in the SBC are after October 15. That is plenty of time to see who is going to rise in their conferences.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 7:42 pmThe most concerning aspect to me is that no g5 teams are ranked unless you include BYU as a g5. Except that the polls are less about what you do than what the teams around you do.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 6:53 pmUnless we totally dominate the next 3 opponents, we are not going to have the opportunity to be ranked.

If we win those games, we'll keep moving up as long as teams ahead of us lose.

Re: Poll watch
I was concerned we'd lose some ground this week, but we basically stayed where we were. Pretty favorable treatment considering the performance Saturday.

Re: Poll watch
I thought so as well. We only lost 3 votes and that could have been from more people voting Washington or Kansas (wow never thought I'd say that). Cincy lost double-digit votes. Maybe the voters respect Troy as well considering their close game against Ole Miss. We are the media darlings this year. Hopefully we can use that to our advantage.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 8:32 amI was concerned we'd lose some ground this week, but we basically stayed where we were. Re: Poll watch
Pretty interesting games this week for teams around us in the polls. Minn at MSU, UNC vs ND, USC at Oregon St., Oregon at Washington St., UF at Tenn, WF vs Clemson, Texas at TTU, A&M vs Arkansas. We will need a strong win to get ranked.

Go A&M!...... Go UNC! A part of me just died, but we need this.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 9:21 amPretty interesting games this week for teams around us in the polls. Just a thought what happens to us if:
A@M runs the table and UNC runs the table and We run the table?

Re: Poll watch
I think A&M will be fine. Their defense will carry them to plenty of wins. It seems like if UNC could ever put a full game together, they could be dangerous. Outside of Wake Forest and UNC, the ACC has some below average offenses this year so I don't know how many teams will be able to keep up with them if Maye keeps them rolling. I will silently root for whatever helps us.

Re: Poll watch
I am pulling hard for them but what UNC and A&M do won’t matter if we don’t win. We got to run the table and that starts with JMU. We have a tough schedule. I’ll be ecstatic if we were to go 10-2. It will be hard with our injuries and the much improved Sun Belt.

Re: Poll watch
Troy lost to Ole Miss 28-10 and it was 28-3 before Troy scored a late TD. I think we are where we are because of the A&M win and all the pub we got from this weekend. I'll be honest, I'm not convinced we are the 28th best team but if we can keep finding ways to win we can sneak into the top 25.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 9:12 amI thought so as well. Re: Poll watch
100% true. We are not even top 35 right now. I would place us more like 40-50 range but that upset has us high. If we can beat JMU and run the table after that then I think we would deserve to be ranked. It’s going to be hard with injuries and a brutal November though. If we win the next 3 I bet we get ranked 23-35 though.hapapp wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 12:33 pmTroy lost to Ole Miss 28-10 and it was 28-3 before Troy scored a late TD. Re: Poll watch
I so disagree. We are top 25. Coming off 2 brutal and highly emotional games and facing a tough conference foe with the distraction of CGD...we played a good game with several key position groups starting #2's. Stubbed our toe there at the end on the two yrd line and should have never come down to the ending we had, yet we still pulled it off. You're lying to yourself if during our next to last possession you weren't feeling like we had it in the bag. This is a special team. A lot of dogfights left in our division but this team is as good as we've had.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 12:37 pm100% true. We are not even top 35 right now. Re: Poll watch
I'm not sold on top 25 yet. Offense I would put us in top 15. Defense will be a struggle. I honestly think JMU will be the best whole team we will face up to this point. But that is just going off stats. Haven't seen a down of them yet. One thing for sure our team and coaches will be better prepared after Troy near miss.
