Can someone on this board raise their hand if they think JMU will go down easy and aren’t going to give us everything they have, including a helluva of a fight?

I have not seen anyone say that yet several posters keep implying folks think that way. I don’t think any App fan with any sense believes that.

I expect a dogfight but we better be prepared. I think we will and think we prevail.
I definitely agree that we prevail but this will be a hard game. If we somehow win by double digits I will be thoroughly impressed. This team has been through a meat grinder and definitely could use a week that is not nearly as hard. I expect a dog fight because JMU has a good team and coaches. They will be well prepared and I'm optimistic that we will be as well.

I think we would all agree that a bye or Robert Morris (or even the Citadel) this Saturday would have been what we need- those three options in that order. But we didn't get a great break so I just hope that we have some key guys back on the field. What on earth was/is wrong with Noel? I never quite get where a guy is practicing (or so we thought) tries to go (A&M and Troy) but is scratched. I could be imagining that Troy part but what is his injury?

I think JMU is well positioned for a successful transition to FBS, and they are definitely not going to be a pushover Saturday. That said, I think we will prevail and win by a couple of scores.

I hope you are right. Part of me fully expects to only win by 3-6 but another part of me thinks we could bounce back and Clark could have a lot of people eating their words as we win by 14-17. I would love to win by a good margin but I will gladly take a win any way we can get it.

Doing a little research. We are definitely the more tested team playing two P-5's and a conference rival. However, the different rating systems have us barely as a favorite at home (espn App -8), (Sagarin App -3.5) and (Massey App -4.5).

After playing Norfolk State and Middle Tennessee State they are only allowing like 10 yards rushing per game and just over 100 yards passing per game. Their QB looks to be pretty dynamic and can run and throw. They appear to be pretty balanced passing/rushing. If they are legit, this game could get hairy. Hope we are ready....
We have definitely been more tested but I think many expected their game with MTSU to be close since there were unknowns. Their QB has been fantastic and after seeing him I can see why they throttled MTSU. JMU is very hungry for this win so I hope Shawn has been able to focus on this opponent without many distractions. The fact he did not see film on Troy until Wednesday is just not going to do it as the season goes on. I hope he is turning down all media this week because these requests will dry up anyway if we lose. All that matters is we get healthy and just win because JMU will be ready and everyone after them is going to give us their best shot.
Wait what?
If this is true it’s completely unacceptable. Get off the phones and camera and do your job. I know the coordinators were looking… but still.
Shawn’s job duties also include being a direct representative for the school. He had 34 media request which is quite unusual on any given week. He isn’t in a position to turn them down. Geez!
This is fair. You would expect the other coaches to pick up the extra duties, especially if they are looking to parley a top 6 win and magical season into their own promotions next season.

We sure are lucky to have all these unemployed coaches pulling for APP and responding at least daily to what the coaching staff should be doing and when. It might be time to move out of your parent's basement.

Coach Clark mentioned that in one of his post Troy pressers, he wasn't too proud of it but it happened. And actually, that is a big part of his job. The head coach is far more than just the coach. He is an ambassador for our school and program, a promoter, a fund raiser, as well as being available to alumni. He has so much more on his plate than just football and like it or not that is a very big part of the job. I think he handled the week very well and sounded good on every interview I heard. In the end, I am sure he learned something about time management and we got the win so it is all good.

Some of the worry, bitching and general hand wringing just gets crazy on here. Once you think you've read the ultimate bull crap there is a topper- the complaint that coach didn't watch enough film and that he's doing too many interviews. The same crowd of these inane complainers also hopes that App doesn't lose another game, plays and wins the NY6 and ultimately gets into whatever expanded playoffs that get created. And do all this with a mythical coaching staff that never makes a wrong call. And yes I know it's a discussion board.

I was listening to Full Ride on ESPNU Radio on Sirius XM this morning. (Rick Neuheisel and Chris Childers) App State coverage kicked off the show at 10:00 am this morning. I don't know if it was to give Shawn a break, or just a change of pace, but Associate AD Sarah Strickland was on talking about App State Culture, hosting Game Day (and how the home opener prepared the Athletics staff for this past weekend), etc. The good publicity is still rolling in. Childers also listed Clark as a Hot Stock (coaches) later in the segment and talked about how big it was to cap the weekend with a win.

*CORRECTION--As App94 noted, it was Katie Pate (she did a good job representing the school_

It was Katie Pate and she was on because she tried hooking Childers up with tickets to the game last week.

When is the last time App beat an accurate mobile QB by a couple scores?

Exactly right about the return of investment, for example If the APP field hockey team beat a top ranked UNC field hockey, very few wouldn't know it. However, we all know the results of the positive change our top 2 wins against ranked football teams have brought to the University and the High Country in the last 15 years. Football pays the bills in more ways than one. Everyone on the list that has benefited in this time frame from the Michigan win and going forward from the A&M win should line up and kiss Touchdown Yosef's APPS.

Would Holton Ahlers from ECU fit your definition?

If not, Chris Reynolds in 2020 would count (UNCC)

Good pull with ECU, our defense dominated after that first drive. Nothing regarding UNCC and football should be counted, my goodness they have been terrible.

I never said he is not doing his job in general but he literally admitted he did not get to look at Troy until Wednesday because of the crazy interview schedule. Last week did effect his ability to do his job like he feels he needs to. I just said I hope he gets to turn down interviews or not get many requests and has a normal week so he can focus. Coaches like routines so it had to be tough. I'm not sure what gave you the thought to say that when I never said he is not the head coach or that he is not doing his job.

JMU seems sizeable in the trenches with experience on the DLine and size on the Oline. Lack of experience and depth on the O-line though. Hopefully our defensive front 7 can get push to the qb, wouldnt mind seeing a qb spy this game on their dual threat qb (not sure who that would be though, maybe cobb if healthy?). Our oline size and experience should be able to push their front 7 around but it will be a fun battle to watch!
