Re: Player Injuries
I think we can safely say that we won't really ever hear any details regarding player injuries. On Mountaineer Talk last week coach pretty much gave a non answer to that question. He has gotten pretty good with interviews but gives standard coach answers to some questions. He will say that everyone is banged up (which is probably true) but often says that certain injured guys practiced- then they don't play. I'm sure the staff just likes to keep that information away from opponents and generally quiet.

This. The coaches don’t feel the need to report these things. They also don’t find a need to issue updated depth charts.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 11:06 amI think we can safely say that we won't really ever hear any details regarding player injuries. Re: Player Injuries
I didn't mean to sound like I expect to hear a report- just saying that's how it goes. An injury is either upper or lower body. We might hear if someone is out for the year. Football is rough.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 11:22 amThis. The coaches don’t feel the need to report these things. No worries. I didn’t take it as anything other than intended. I wish they would be a little less protective of the information that they could communicate.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 11:30 amI didn't mean to sound like I expect to hear a report- just saying that's how it goes. Re: Player Injuries
I would guess that if Cam wasn’t in when we were inside the 5 going for the win it because he wasn’t physically able. Same goes for Chop. They both were a little hobbled late. I hope only minor injuries and at least one, with Noel are able to go Saturday.

Re: Player Injuries
On the long term positive side is that Arnholt, McLeod and Sullivan are getting valuable reps.

Re: Player Injuries
#9 WR Christian Wells went down with a lower body issue late 3rd or early 4th and was unable to return. He had to be helped off the field. Our Docs took him to the tent for an exam. He came out retaped and tried to run, but pulled up after two or three steps. They took him to the FH and I don't think he came out. Bad.
Also, what's the story on the VT transfer WR #8 Jacoby Pinckney? He had the build-up of an emerging impact receiver. I'm not certain he's been targeted by Brice yet. I'm not certain he's ever been in a game.

Re: Player Injuries
Who built him up as such? I haven’t seen him built up as a “stud” or in emerging impact player anywhere but on this message board.asu66 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 12:48 pm#9 WR Christian Wells went down with a lower body issue late 3rd or early 4th and was unable to return. The injury bug could quickly make us extremely thin in the WR room. We have 12 or so guys on the roster listed as WRs and maybe only six or seven are in the current rotation. I'm not confident any of the others are ready for the "next man up" philosophy. Wells' availability next week is a ? mark. There was a brief on-air mention yesterday that Stroman was playing with some "discomfort." Those two just came to light. I realize that Brice consciously spreads the ball around as much as possible but if the rotation loses a couple of kids, it could pose problems for putting guys on the field who know the playbook, can run their routes, can get open, can take the hits and still make catches.

The actual question was never answered..lso, what's the story on the VT transfer WR #8 Jacoby Pinckney?.asu66 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 7:23 pmAppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 2:21 pmWho built him up as such? The only places I've ever seen the young man's name are here on the MMB and on the roster. I don't recall who posted the info about his transfer or exactly when but it was probably 18 months ago or more. I do recall info listed at that time about his raw speed and his size as a WR candidate...and a post or two from MMBers concerning some nagging injury from his VT days that supposedly continues to hold his progression back.

I have no clue..now inquiring minds want to know ..

Re: Player Injuries
All good. My response was a bit tongue in cheek as well and not meant towards you. Apologies if it came across wron. IF Wells is out or limited next week. My guess that it would mean more reps for Stroman. Walk on Freshman Hetzel (sp?) has been in on key plays. Lowman is ready to step up and contribute as well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Eli Wilson line up in a slot as well. We shall see what CSC says about Wells tomorrow.asu66 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 7:23 pmAppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 2:21 pmWho built him up as such? Re: Player Injuries
Crazy thought but with our injuries could some of our 2022 class signings like him that supposedly look good in practice be able to play the next 3 games to give our dinged up players a rest and still have games we should be able to win without them? We really need them back in 4-5 weeks coming off the bye week. I'm sure if Noel, Cobb, Wells, etc sat out 3 games they would be well rested for CCU.
