Re: T A&M
How many times did we get a P5 when they were on the upswing (Clemson, UT at the time, Penn State, LSU, etc). Michigan still went like 8-4 and won their bowl game. Granted we got a down UNC and USC but to dissect a win saying the team that we (or Stink or Marshall) beat didn't deserve a ranking is stupid. If we had gotten run out of there the pundits would say that's how it's supposed to work. If we lost by 3 the next time we played a P5 the announcers would add the A&M game to the list of P5's we scared but didn't beat. Go in there and dominate play and it's because A&M was overrated or doesn't deserve a ranking. Hell hardly anyone really deserves a ranking until at least 6 games in.

I had doubts about Gill early on but he's got my respect now for sure.Yosefus wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 7:31 pmGill made some pretty good choicesBootsy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 7:24 pmAresco and the AAC doubled down and offered conference membership based on TV audience potential, which has proven repeatedly to be problematic.
Gill and the SBC offered membership based on individual program performance and the opportunity to increase regional competition. Better travel for teams, happier fans and more competitive conference play.
If Aresco is crying, Gill has to be smiling right now.

The jealousy is real guys !
Couldn’t agree more. Looking for other fanbases to validate our success is a losing proposition.

Re: T A&M
Not much to holler about when a smaller sized roster from the "lowly" SBC comes in and whips all your 4 & 5 star recruits' asses up and down the field. Plus having to yell for damn 'Neer 3 quarters because your D can't get off the field would make even the most fit person go hoarse. Complete domination by App and the score did not reflect how bad A&M got whooped.
Hats off to the entire coaching staff and players!

Re: T A&M
Our crew ran into an official from our game in the airport yesterday. He was thoroughly impressed with our team, especially the offensive and defensive lines. He kept talking about how they weren’t the biggest in the world, but very quick, well-coached & opened up massive holes for our RBs. Like we all know and saw, he said it was a complete dominant effort by our guys. What a game and experience all around!!

Re: T A&M
I really think that an offensive line can get too big especially if the guys are not able to be mobile or agile. A 6'6" 340lb dude is certainly massive and intimidating but that quicker 6'3" 250lb edge rusher can get around him. My take on lots of G5 lines we face is that many of those dudes are just big and fat. You have to find the right combination. We hear that "undersized " comment a few times a year. I don't recall the last time we actually got either pushed around or kept completely out of the opponent's backfield. Speed can overcome every time. The Panthers top pick got abused several times yesterday and he is a giant.

Re: T A&M
As it has been discussed before, we had three penalties this past week when possessing the ball. 1st Offensive holding on first down. We made a first down and negated the effects. Missed the FG
2) Offensive holding on first & 10 with an 8 yard run. Made it 1st & 12, FG
3) unsportsmanlike on Clark. Gained the first down but moved the ball back 15 yards. Still 1st & 10. Scored a TD.

Did you thank him for making the game interesting by giving A&M a bunch of handouts?Tripp4212 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 10:07 amOur crew ran into an official from our game in the airport yesterday. Re: T A&M
I do enjoy reading ninernation.net for the 49'ers. They have a very active Appalachian Obsession thread. They truly are obsessed with us. Some of their posters are asking it to be taken down as an embarrassment but it keeps getting added to with more posts. Some much potential at that campus and yet there they are.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

He wasn't the mastermind behind the Sun Belt expansion weathering the storm of realignment? I just assumed he was. Whoever moved the chess pieces to form the new Sun Belt was brilliant.Stonewall wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 8:33 pmGill doesn't make the decisions .Rick83 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 8:36 amI had doubts about Gill early on but he's got my respect now for sure.Yosefus wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 7:31 pmGill made some pretty good choicesBootsy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 7:24 pmAresco and the AAC doubled down and offered conference membership based on TV audience potential, which has proven repeatedly to be problematic.
