Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
Cox/Moore put up most yards as a combo, correct? From a talent, speed, and just hard to stop them at the highest level standpoint I'm taking our current group. Peoples and Noel are more talented, faster, etc than Cox/Moore combo but those two did have the most production. This current stable has 3 RBs who could put up 1,000 yards easily and a 4th who I believe would have a shot, if given the chance.Appstate3481 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 1:01 pmIn honor of Cam Peoples and Nate Noel getting some national respect being a top RB duo in the country!! Really hard to argue against Marcus Cox and Jalin Moore, in fact I don't think there is a better duo in our history.

Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
Has a D1 college football team ever had 3 guys eclipse 1,000 yards in one season? Over 12 games that's obviously 250 yards for the team. Add in a bowl game and possibly the CCG and it's not crazy.
Have we had 2 guys to hit 1,000 in one season? Probably should have asked that first

Ignoring the stats and realizing Jalin was injured in latter part of season in 2018, the combo of Jalin Moore/ Darrynton Evans was the biggest threat IMO.

I still stick with John Settle as the most talented single back for his era that App has ever had

Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
If we had three 1,000 yard rushers in one season, there would be some on this board complaining that we run the ball too much and our WRs need touches.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 2:09 pmHas a D1 college football team ever had 3 guys eclipse 1,000 yards in one season? If you include a QB......the best tandem was AE & Richardson. It's hard to believe but Armanti is currently the 4th on Apps all time rushing yards list.

Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
Noel is the closest back skill wise that can match Marcus, and Jalin is better than Cam. So I agree.

Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
Most of the time it seemed like it took someone leaving or getting hurt to clearly see how good the other guy was. Seems this year we know how good the top 3 are or can be from the beginning, will be interesting and hope none have any issues this year and can all get in good game rhythms.

Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
I believe it has happened in a triple option, including the QB, but I am not 100% sure. That would be a good stat. It would have happened in FCS, D2, or D3 I'm sure though.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 2:09 pmHas a D1 college football team ever had 3 guys eclipse 1,000 yards in one season? When I said 3 guys who could go over 1,000 yards I meant they have the talent to do so. I know we won't have 3 players surpass 1,000 in a season with our current system.

Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
This is a good point. While Richardson was not a freak talent like Peoples he was great for that system and then AE was the most lethal runner at QB in FCS/I-AA history.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 2:39 pmIf you include a QB......the best tandem was AE & Richardson. Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
100% with you here. He played in the NFL and was a good one there. KR and Cox were really good but they played in systems that enhanced their numbers. I'll take Settle, Peoples, Evans, Noel, and Moore over them based just on talent.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 2:22 pmI still stick with John Settle as the most talented single back for his era that App has ever had
Shawn Clark will definitely back me up on the statement that Peoples is more talented and will get more NFL interest I'm sure. I would bet that by the end of September our coaches get more questions/interest on Peoples than Cox and KR had their entire careers. We have not had anyone physically like Peoples ever and so while he has questions we all agree on, he will get strong interest due to those physical tools.

Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
When I said we have 3 who can go over 1,000 and a 4th who might could if given a shot this is what I meant. If Peoples had to carry the load and stayed healthy he could 100% do it. Same with Noel and Daetrich Harrington. I also think Marshall probably could. I wonder if Castles would at the FCS level. He looks like the type who could be a 1,000-1,200 yard rusher in the SoCon.biggie wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 2:49 pmMost of the time it seemed like it took someone leaving or getting hurt to clearly see how good the other guy was. Re: Best App RB Duos of All Time
I should have modified that question and stuck with 2 guys. That roughly equates to about 170 rushing YPG. If we average around 400 YPG that's another 230 passing. If we really just went 2 backs for 90% of the carries it's not out of the question and we still get to throw it a good bit. Being that we should be spreading the wealth among 3 (hopefully healthy) backs I would love to see all 3 at least go over 500.
