Jalin Moore and Marcus Cox would be tough to beat. We have had a lot of talent at running back. Evans seems to be the most talented overall if you include pass catching yards.

My biggest "what if" in this category is 2009. Travaris Cadet and his all-purpose yards mixed with AE upon his return with Chisolm, D. Moore, and some solid guys in the stable with Radford, Welton, Baker, and Jackson.

That is a pretty good group as well. Very good point!

He was a really good player and forgotten by many. He was an even better human being. I wonder what he is up to now?

I still stick with John Settle as the most talented single back for his era that App has ever had
Agree. Though Marcus Cox the most productive.

He lives in Shelby and sells insurance and coaches ball at Shelby High. Great dude. He sits in front of me in the NEZ.

As I said in a different thread, I still believe that John Settle / Tim Sanders was the best RB Duo at App until recent years. I wouldn't argue with the more recent combos listed above, but Settle/Sanders were studs by any standard.

Perhaps the best question would be who has been your favorite (best pound for pound) back App has had? Take opponent out of the equation as well as era. Settle was absolutely dominating and was worth the price of admission. We have absolutely had some great ones especially when you read these posts. They have called Penn State Linebacker U. If you go by the eye test over the last 30ish years we are easily a top 20 in the running back U discussion. We are all biased of course and other schools can come up with lists as well but App has maintained that level of consistency and we have simply been able to find those gems.

Favorite is either Evans or Moore. Most valuable is KRich. He’s the only one with a Natty.

That is good to hear. I have seen him at a game in the last few years but just did not get the chance to say hello. He and Chip Hooks in that area were so fun to watch.

Definitely not biased to say we are up there in producing RBs. We have had some really good talents but then when you take players who did not have freak athleticism or physical tools like Cox, K Rich, and others who put up over 1,000 yards and were All-Conference players you can see why we always produce standouts at the position.

He came in the right era with Armanti and Richie as QBs. If you put Peoples, Evans, Harrington, Moore, etc. on the roster they would have had them as well.

I don't know how many on here remember but we had a player named Alan Atwater who was the highly touted player over the walk-on KR. He had way more talent than KR but he did not have the work ethic, character, and intangibles of KR so their careers went the opposite of what you would expect. Had he not got in trouble and kicked off team. I still wonder what he could have done. I found the original press release by the school here: https://appstatesports.com/news/1970/1/1/1541829

Chip is a good dude. I played on an intramural basketball team with him and Otis Smith.

Ignoring the stats and realizing Jalin was injured in latter part of season in 2018, the combo of Jalin Moore/ Darrynton Evans was the biggest threat IMO.
This is the answer for me. Moore/Evans until Jalin got hurt then Evans/Williams Jr & Harrington/Peoples

I liked Chip a lot. Really good guy. I did not know he played on the intramural basketball team but it is not a shock. I remember Otis as well. I did not know him personally but he was a good player.

My last summer there I lived with Vince Fraley, Marvin Hodge and Ron Gilliam. Met those guys through them. Ron G was not only one of the nicest people you could meet but dude was also one of the smartest guys I knew.

Played fewer games back in John's day and don't think we made the play-offs as far.
