What is the "Sad Story" on Bjorn Nitmo? I probably heard it but have forgotten.canes_mj wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 9:50 amMemories not what it used to be...but off the top of my head...
Armanti, John Settle, Dexter Coakley, Lynch, Marcus Cox, Dexter Jackson, Bjorn Nitmo (sad story), Avery Hall, Kevin Richardson, Richie Williams, D'Marco Jackson (surprised he isn't on more lists), Richie Melcore, Taylor Lamb....Darrynton, and Jalin; we seem to churn out RBs recently. Good topic

He suffered severe brain damage from a hit he sustained in a 1997 preseason NFL contest. He is estranged from his family and has a hard time holding a job because of short term memory loss.
Here's an article as wellAppYosef! wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 11:34 amWhat is the "Sad Story" on Bjorn Nitmo? I probably heard it but have forgotten.canes_mj wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 9:50 amMemories not what it used to be...but off the top of my head...

Pretty much homeless.appbanker wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 7:43 amNittmo had an awesome leg. I remember seeing him put several kick offs through the uprights. If I remember right, he has had a rough life due to concussionsspacemonkey wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 1:34 amFor you young guys...you should google/youtube search Bjorn Nittmo and David Letterman. For me it was the first time I ever heard the words Appalachian state in a National type audience. David Letterman was pretty big back in the day. He constantly said "Bjorn Nittmo"....he finally brought him on for interviews.
Gary Moondog Davis, aka Garo after the Dolphins' kicker in the 70s.
No kidding. If you don't have ESPN+ you need to get it. David Jackson is doing the games again! It's literally a blast from the past and I made sure to comment something to the team on Twitter about how refreshing it was to hear Jackson say "Ballgame at the Rock". Took me back a decade and that was amazing. Forever grateful to that man for the memories of pre-game, post-game, radio shows, and just everywhere his voice has been in general.AppYosef! wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 11:45 amWhat a great addition!!! I guess most every school has had an announcer over the years whose voice fans immediately recognize when listening to games on the radio. Back in the good ol' days scrolling the dial looking for the WKBC 97.3 FM station for the games on Saturday you found David Jackson's voice and you knew you were home.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 5:34 amHonorable mention to David Jackson...never wore the uniform but did a huge amount for App state and an assistant AD and voice of the Mountaineers![/highlight]
I believe Stevens was a safety but I may be misremembering. I know he was a safety in the nflTractorApp wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 10:10 pmStarted watching Freshman year, 1978. I would add:
1. Mario Acitelli, we don't beat Michigan without him. He sealed the left side to perfection.
2. Matt Stevens. Best corner we have ever had.
3. Corey Lynch. Uncanny ability to break up passes where it looks like he was beat.
Honorable mention to Trey Elder. Best team player ever.
