The End of Miller Hill?
In last nights YC Zoom call, details of stadium configuration for the Carolina game were laid out. 3,000 temporary bleacher seats are going to be placed in the South End Zone. They announced that they will remain in place for the entire season. This might be a test run on bowling in the stadium.

The people asking for more seats could get there wish here. Easier to add seats there and connect the two sides. Wonder how high they could go without blocking the board? Could be the seats closest to the field while building over the visitor entrance to avoid fan interaction.

I've never been a hill sitter but always had an appreciation for those that did. A green space for the hippies has just been the Appalachian way. Hate to see if go.

I know some folks would like to see that. Personally I would find it disappointing.

I could envision something like this. Not as high but I always thought it could go up to the top of the hill because as you walk on the road you are still below the screen.

Re: The End of Miller Hill?
Are we sure these temporary bleachers are going over the actual hill itself? I could also envision using the expanded pavement area and going up and over the restrooms on each side of the scoreboard, with a tunnel underneath for foot traffic. JMU used to have the same setup in their endzone - with temporary bleachers that straddled a pedestrian walkway underneath. 1,500 seats going up on each side of the scoreboard wouldn't seem to be too hard or impede too much. Also, we're not getting much of a capacity bump for the Carolina game if we put seats directly over Miller Hill...negligible at best.

Re: The End of Miller Hill?
Would it be feasible or possible to add seating on the corners and leave a nice strip of hill down the middle for a few hundred? Couldn’t they do this and increase the metal seating by about 2,500 but still leave some grass down the middle? I know it’s not a fair comparison but doesn’t Clemson still have the hill seating? With the new conference structure I can envision far more 30k+ games than 22k with the closer teams bringing fans. Way more JMU, Marshall and ODU versus Texas State, South Alabama and Georgia State

Re: The End of Miller Hill?
As it was explained last night. The seats are going on the hill. They will go up to the walkway. The rationale is the hill doesn’t maximize the space. People sprawling out take up more room than if there were seats.HkyMtneer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 7:43 amAre we sure these temporary bleachers are going over the actual hill itself? The capacity bump is all relevant to what the Fire Marshall will allow.

Or this...This seems more conducive to our needs. Put the band in the seats and more students section (wrap around to where its at) in the grass. The other have the seats GA

Re: The End of Miller Hill?
1. I don't see the point. UVA, Wake, Clemson (Although only partial) make their hills work for them, why can't we? If they were going to bring the seats closer to the field I could understand, but to just put it on the hill, I don't get it.
2. I hope it's done well, and not just thrown together and look sloppy.
3. Will this allow Cline a better view of Howard's knob?

Haha. The masses in the NEZ would have rioted if they left those stands up.Gonzo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 8:23 am*Edited*AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 7:07 amIn last nights YC Zoom call, details of stadium configuration for the Carolina game were laid out. 3,000 temporary bleacher seats are going to be placed in the South End Zone. Re: The End of Miller Hill?
It wouldn’t matter. He would spend the time looking at the field and pining for the track./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 8:19 am1. I don't see the point.
