RIP Joe Parker
Playboy All American, good dude, great punter. His first one ever as a Mountaineer he set a school record, 70 yards.https://www.hamptonfuneralnc.com/obituary/joseph-parker
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Joe was the son of a legendary high school coach in South Carolina...Red Parker. May Joe rest in peace.

So sad to hear. Hate to lose him and hope the family knows he indeed made us very proud. RIP Joe!

Stunning news, stunning loss! Way, way too young. I'll always remember your booming punts and the huge lift they gave your teammates and Mountaineer fans. God's Peace, Joe.

Re: RIP Joe Parker
I’ll never forget seeing Joe standing outside the locker-room prior to the USC game in ‘75. He had a good day. Big win...important for the growth of the program...along with wins over WF and ECU
RIP, Joe

The Playboy AA team was a big deal back in the day , created a lot of buzz for the school and program.

I remember the Playboy AA team being introduced on national TV. Bob Hope I think. Was so proud to hear Joe's name and Appalachian on National TV. And the articles were absolutely great to read on a cold Boone night!!

Re: RIP Joe Parker
I was taken aback by that, as well. I hope the Memorial Service to be held at a later date will be more fitting to his life and achievements.

Re: RIP Joe Parker
Don't know for sure, but more likely 1975 since it was or maybe was close to the year Brakefield's team defeated USC, Wake, and ECU in the same season (1975). My money would be on 1975
asu66 would be the one most likely to know for sure.
