It doesn’t matter because they get a chance and in FCS everyone is still at the same level. I’ve said it many times, the fact there exists the labels of G5 and P5 should not be allowed. Either we are on the same level with Alabama or we ain’t.

Re: New playoff structure?
Of course, there are 10 conferences so what happens with the G5s? As much as I agree with you about the indys, it will never happen because ND has a seat on the committee and it takes a unanimous vote. I'm sick of the pandering to ND.

Re: New playoff structure?
If we have ten FBS conferences, you take the top two finishers, division champions, from the power five schools, which gives you ten schools, then you take the five conference champions from the group of five schools which gives you fifteen teams, then you would take one at large bid which would be Notre Dame. That gives you sixteen teams. If you cannot win your division or conference, you should not be in the playoffs.

This is the first time I have seen this idea. I like it. It would make for a great playoff. It would be nice to put the AAC champ vs the Sunbelt Champ and the Mac Champ vs MWC champ.AppWyo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 10:23 pmIf we have ten FBS conferences, you take the top two finishers, division champions, from the power five schools, which gives you ten schools, then you take the five conference champions from the group of five schools which gives you fifteen teams, then you would take one at large bid which would be Notre Dame. I would like some bracket that didn't have the g5 rep against the one seed every year based on "opinions".

Sun Belt and MW....
"A 12-team field can do that in a few ways. For one, it would expand access to the Group of Five conferences, who were locked out for the event’s first seven years and only got a bid in 2021 because a whole bunch of things fell perfectly into place in Cincinnati’s second-straight unbeaten regular season. More teams could dream about getting into an expanded playoff, and that could make more Mountain West and Sun Belt games into spectacles that get considerably more attention than they do now."

Everything I have read to this point suggests 12 or stay at 4. Why, I'm not sure

I'm with Saint, I like the top 8 teams. Conferences can still have their CCG and an 8 team playoff only adds one more week. I have an easier time telling tough luck to #9 than I do #5 or #6.

Re: New playoff structure?
12 likely passes easier than 8 because it's easier to secure the autobids at 12. If they go 12, give autobids to the top 8 rated conferences and four at-larges. Apologies to the MAC and CUSA.

Re: New playoff structure?
By the way in regards to my question as to if we are or ain’t on the same level as Alabama. I know the answer (answers). Not even close talent wise or in the eyes of the media or even the powers that be. What’s the ultimate point of having 130ish teams deemed to be “FBS” or “CFP” if you then basically have a subdivision called G5?
