So not to contradict Clark, but I’m not sure that there was some misspoken phrasing. I believe that he meant to say was that everyone that we wanted that we could fit under the 85 is back. Could be wrong though.

He said tight ends coming back but Evan's which implies Pearson is back. Mentioned Cobb Huff and Jones by name as coming back. All starting linemen coming back but Baer Hunter. So unless they transfer by May 31 we should be in good shape for next year

We will be as good as our lines play.

I look for Chase to run a little more this year. He doesnt have to be great at it just a threat. Lafayette was really bothered by Zac when he was here. I think that played a pretty big role that their defense never took seriously the possibility of the Qb bootlegging around the corner this year. The more looks the defense has to worry about the better the line play seems.

The threat of running is all we need. It keeps one guy in the box at home. The converse to him running is if he gets hurt. Now you have a Sophomore and a true Freshman coming in.

Chase can get some yards with his legs when needed but he will never be considered a run threat buy opposing defenses because he just isn't a runner.

True. But if he can get 5-6 occasionally, then it keeps guys at home.

Given how well he passes the ball, do not need him to be at level of ZT. He can do more than just bootleg. Chase can read/pass option. If DL or LB commits to RB, Chase keeps it for 4 yards or so. Once the defense has to factor makes 20, 6 and 4 more effective. with talent of our RBs,they only need the D to hesitate for a nano-second.

Howell wasn't really either -until he started to run with the ball more often - I doubt he's any faster than Chase

Chase isn't a threat to break that 60 yard TD run, but he showed on several occasions that he is capable of picking up 5 or 6 to keep the chains moving. That didn't become much of a factor until the second half of the season, but teams will have to consider it moving forward.

I hope he has a great year - He totally impressed me with his play this past season - I just hope he takes it easy on my other Mountaineers ---

Can't blame him at all. I'd spend the last year of my college football career with my dad as coach at 1 of college football's blue bloods in a heartbeat.

Hate he moved on but totally understand it. The young man's motor runs wide open.

Good for him, hate that he left but what a great opportunity. Hope he has a monster season and gets all the attention and accolades that he deserves.
