Re: Who Comes Back??
If all starting guards and tackles return, would one of them move to Center or would backup Center Everett slide into that role?

I think that the plan is to move Smith to Center where he and Everett will battle it out for the starting nod.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 8:21 amIf all starting guards and tackles return, would one of them move to Center or would backup Center Everett slide into that role?

Re: Who Comes Back??
I wonder why we don't move Helms to center and slide Hodges inside to guard? He played there at WCU and that would allow Hodges to play the position he will at the next level.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 9:34 amI think that the plan is to move Smith to Center where he and Everett will battle it out for the starting nod.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 8:21 amIf all starting guards and tackles return, would one of them move to Center or would backup Center Everett slide into that role?

Re: Who Comes Back??
Why don’t we just open it up and let the best 5 from spring and summer start in the fall. I like those Count B guys from Virginia.

Re: Who Comes Back??
Haven’t we had this discussion already? Helms played both Center and Guard at WCU so he isn’t out of position at App. Hodges is a RT at this level. You need to have two guys ready to step in at that spot in order to move him. Smith was moved from DL to play Center. Can you imagine the uproar that the experts on this board would have if we moved Hodges so he could get looks at the NFL and his replacements were getting whipped?AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 10:51 amI wonder why we don't move Helms to center and slide Hodges inside to guard? I was referring to the red shirts who have gained strength and work against our first D every day in practice this year.

Re: Who Comes Back??
We don’t hold guys back to RS if they show they belong on the two deep. Everett and Lindsay were two deep guys as True Freshman. But to your intitial point, we already do. The best guys get the run. I’m sure one or two of them will get into the mix.

Re: Who Comes Back??
And another thing ,watching these mobile dual threat QBs that these bowl winners have makes me envious.

Re: Who Comes Back??
They certainly can cause problems for a D. We also know the downside to dual threat guys….. usually don’t throw as well and they get hurt more often. Would I hate it if CB lost 10 lbs and incorporated the run game a little more… probably not. Also not sure it’s in his interest either.

Re: Who Comes Back??
Definitely should be upset if his replacement is getting whipped but we don't know that for sure. I'm going by the word that Ramsey is a future star for us. I will be interested to see how the line is looking after the spring and if we perhaps see change during fall camp.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 11:26 amHaven’t we had this discussion already?
