So a tough forecast call for Saturday. One camp is for shower / storm chances with another suggesting high pressure and just partly cloudy sky conditions.

I'd prep for an expectation of showers, with a mix of clouds and if things turn out drier, then so be it.

Temperatures will be running in the lower to mid 70s for the afternoon and start of the game.

GO MOUNTAINEERS!

You guys remember the Elon game, I think it was about 2010, when the ice pellets hammered us over on the STATE side?

I think that was my mom's first game she went to. She didn't come back for a while.

At least there was ice for the cups.

We have cups with ice this year. Saw it on the website last night. $2.00 for the cup with ice.

it's a vague reference in the "What New for 2021 Gameday" article. But for $2 surely it'd be a stadium cup.

Concessions options will include fried chicken tender basket ($11), pulled pork sandwich ($6), stadium dog ($5), warm pretzel ($5), nachos & cheese ($5), french fries ($5), kettle corn ($7), popcorn ($5), cotton candy ($5), varied candies ($4), frozen ices ($5.50), 20 oz. Pepsi products ($5), 20 oz. Aquafina water ($5), lemonade ($5), coffee ($4) and cups of ice ($2)

Wow I hadn't realized the prices things had gotten. $5 for a water, that's like NFL stadium prices to me.

I noticed the pricing changes at the Luke Combs concert and assumed it was just because it was a one-off. We were on the club level and they had simply put black electrical tape over the old prices on the board and written in the new #. $5 for a bottled soda at a game game feels a little excessive, though I bought a few and it didn't seem out of whack for a concert...funny how our minds are conditioned and work like that.

Anyways, I read somewhere that we had contracted with a new catering/large-scale food service provider for in-stadium service this season so I'm assuming that the increased prices are simply "passing the buck" to allow for a profit. Granted, I was never a big fan of App State Food Services providing the service, as I felt it was lackluster at best, but the price jumps kinda bite. A 16 oz Booneshine was $11 (I believe standard domestics were $9?) and the BBQ sandwich was $8...and the BBQ was actually quite good.

I'll know I'm old soon when I have to sneak airplane bottles of water into games instead of liquor.

That's exactly how much it was for a bottled water at the Panthers game this past Sunday. Though, the Panthers allow you to bring in up to 2 sealed bottles of water per person. I'm guessing KBS doesn't have the same allowance, but perhaps they do.

This will be my first App home game in several years, and the wife and daughters (5 and 3) are coming with. We'll probably look to fill up somewhere in town before the game to not have to take out a 2nd mortgage for food at the game. I'll most definitely be grabbing some Appalachia Cookie Co in the stadium, though.

There are water fountains to fill the $2 cup of ice but bottled water should be $2 everything else can be a big revenue maker for AppState food services and athletics. I just hope they're able to have enough employees. There was an article in The Appalachian a week back that they've had to close two or three of the smaller food service venues due to lack of staff.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the fountains were disconnected due to CoVid.

If you raise wages by a significant amount You must raise prices by a significant amount. Unfortunately, us seniors on “fixed income” get screwed again.

I feel screwed and am not that old. I make decent money but all goes to bills and kids. And the kids are the worst at the games for wanting food/drinks (and wife). I'll be thirsty and hold out on $5 water, but I'd be in trouble for making the kids do that.

I keep clicking for an updated weather forecast, only to find the breaking news that concession stand prices are really high.

When some of us old heads were there, the saying was: If you don't like the weather in Boone...wait a few minutes.
(or something like that)

As far as water goes, I did like the way they did it at Kenan stadium when we were there a couple years ago. Free ice cold refills around the stadium. Would be nice if we could have something similar.

They were $5 in Miami last week. A Souvenir Cup Soda was $12.50. which might have been refillable. Parking was $20
