Thoughts on ECU-the next day
Between my birthday today, only getting 3 hours sleep last night before heading to school today to teach, getting a short train ride in on the Blue line yesterday and, oh beating ECU, I am on an adrenaline rush right now. Mostly to not getting enough sleep I am sure.Regardless of the reason I am still riding high.
Anywhoooo, that offense last night was an absolute thing of beauty.
I always get a bit sappy around this time as we in App Nation remember the Michigan game. My dad passed away after the 2007 season and that season and game always brings back good memories of my dad. The two of us and sometimes others in the family had a great time at many of the home games that year.
Anyways, the video they played at the start of the 4th quarter cut off the great plays of the 3rd quarter and my first reaction was "Well crap." But that video almost had me in tears. That was a wonderful love letter to the fans of App State. And the crowd reaction was part of why it was so great. They need to do that every game.
The guy behind me also mentioned he got a bit choked up seeing all the clips and not just football but aerial shots of campus and the viaduct. It was all there.

That video was one of the all time greats. I’m 63 and haven’t played any football in 45 years or so but by the end of that video, I wanted to run down on the field and hit somebody!!!

Was the edit done where the block FG of Michigan merged into the blocked FG at the end of the UNC_CHeat game?
I hope they put that on Youtube at some point. Maybe at the end of the season at least.

Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
The whole thing was a big win for App, Charlotte, and football in NC. We had a great crowd that was engaged in the game. The pre game tailgate was also good. Thought it was an awesome idea to merge the two bands and have them basically celebrate our shared state. The football wasn’t bad either. We basically celebrated a victory in the 4th qtr so things got a touch sloppy but we really dominated the game. The offense looks like it could be deadly. I hope this game in Charlotte becomes a regular event, played against other NC foes.

Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
Just got home to Wilmington. Had a great time in Charlotte with my son, brother, and three close friends. Thinking about the game on the way home, a few things stuck in my mind.
First, as great as BOA stadium is, after the excitement of being there wore off, I kept thinking how much I wished the game had been in Boone. There is no better place to watch our guys than at home.
Second, I also got tears as the video played. My NC State son said he has never seen any fans support their team or show more game enthusiasm then we did. He said he now understands why we love our school so much.
Thirdly, I found the East Carolina Fans to be a good bunch. This morning at the hotel, they were friendly, congratulatory, and respectful of our success. Several commented they pulled for us, especially when we played in-state P5's.
All in all, a great way to start the season.

Satisfying win. In-state FBS games are few and far between, so we have to take advantage of the opportunities when they comes along, and we did. We know we’ve been better than ECU for awhile, but we had to live with the “not since 1975” stigma. Now that we have proven it, that’s over and done, and we can call it a rivalry again.

Had 12 App grads in my group. All of us got starry eyed during that video.
App is the greatest place on earth and it’s a hill I’m figuratively and literally willing to die on, haha.

And for someone coming from the coast that is saying a lot about one's love for KBS and Boone.Capt. Ed wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 1:33 pmJust got home to Wilmington. Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
This is my first year back living in Wilmington since I graduated and became a season ticket holder.. I'm hoping those 5 1/2 hour drives aren't too bad. Good to hear we've got some fellow Mountaineers down this way.Capt. Ed wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 1:33 pmJust got home to Wilmington. I got tickled looking at an ECU blog. Some of their fans were apoplectic over losing to a Sunbelt school. The AAC really ain’t nothing special and the delusion says someone is exposed to lead.

Thanks for sharing the link to that video. App has produced some amazing videos over the years, but that's one of my favorites.
Regarding last night's game...now that it's said and done, nothing else needs to be said or done. App made a statement. We go our way and ECU goes theirs. 1-0, baby.

Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
The AAC had quite the day yesterday. I don’t believe the won a game, including a loss to an FCS school.
Give 'em hell!
