ECU-App transportation questions

We're a party of 6 with 2 handicapped persons. We're thinking Uber is our best bet to get from Charlotte downtown to stadium and back to hotels?

We're wondering if that's the best option. Also, how much of a hassle is it getting picked up by an uber driver at the stadium? Will we wait a long time?

I would call BofA Stadium and talk to representative. Explain your situation. They may have some best practices/ideas how to navigate your specific situation. Good luck

Getting there will not be an issue but return can be tricky with Uber down there. It can be done but prepare to wait a bit

I'll second trying this route first. The staff at BofA is top notch. I'd think they'd at least have some good suggestions if they don't have a close by option to park.

While I am a big fan of ride share apps and use Uber/Lyft routinely when traveling, since the start of Covid neither one has been a reliable option in many of the places I have visited. I can't speak for Charlotte directly but I can think of multiple times that I was not able to get a car in places I was visiting (Denver, San Juan, Orlando, south Florida- Stuart, W. Palm and Miami). This never happened prior to the pandemic and I have been told it is because a lot of drivers just haven't returned to driving. I only say this because with 2 handicap people in your group it may be better to find a guaranteed transport instead of ride share apps. Now, if others can advise of the abundance of drivers in Charlotte it is a no brainer and ignore the post. Good luck.

Talked to hotel and BofA stadium reps, both said after the game, traffic is terrible and getting an uber, cab, or driving my car will take forever. So, we're walking slowwwlllly.

Yes, this has been the case in my travels. When I was in Vegas this Spring, Uber's had long waits from the airport and around town. One of the drivers said that people were sitting at home collecting a check vs. driving in close company with others in their cars due to COVID. Rates have also been extremely high in other cities.
My suggestion would be to call a Cab company. You may be able to schedule a pick-up post game.
The other option would be to Google Executive Car Services in Charlotte. With the number in your party, you would be able to get one vehicle and you would not have to compete post game for Ride Share options.

Pre Covid we would go to one of bars/restaurants that are about a block from the stadium and hang out for about an hour for traffic to clear and Uber rates to drop. Rates would usually be half of what they were right after the game. This may be an option but could make for a late night.
