Football Stadium Expansion

Unread post by AtlAppMan » Wed Mar 27, 2013 12:00 am

Are they going to announce the immediate expansion of the football stadium in conjunction with move to Sun Belt?

Boone, NC - Kidd Brewer Stadium will be renamed to Lowe's Stadium. Lowe's will provide $25 million for naming rights for 10 yrs.

Seating will immediately be expanded to 35,000 seats with completion date for start of 2014 football season. Plans include expansion to 43,000 seats within 5 yrs. The track will be removed and the lower level will be restructured with steel frame, similar to east side upper level, at a slightly milder grade extending closer to field providing an increase of 6,000 seats. The existing upper level of west stands will be refitted with 5,000 stadium seats for premium season ticket holders. The south endzone will be closed in to match both the lower level of east and west sides providing an additional 5,000 seats. This leaves the north side open to retain the scenic view of Howard's Knob. Future addition of upper level in south endzone will provide another 8,000 seats in next expansion phase planned for 2018.

Athletic Director Charlie Cobb said "The fans have supported App State football for many years by attending game after game with overflow crowds, many without the benefit of hard seats. It is long overdue that these dedicated fans will now have physical seats to meet the demand of our ever increasing numbers of supporters."

Think about it. Would we announce a huge stadium expansion and renaming at 1 am just 16 hours before the biggest announcement in schools athletics history?

If you believe so, I got some beach-front realty in Kansas to sell you.

The reason I say that is because it does have Charlie Cobb quotes. That too me makes it semi-reliable.

Is there even a college football stadium that has a corporate sponsorship? To add clarification, that would not include universities that play in pro stadiums or other multi-use stadiums.

Wake I believe plays at BB&T field. I'm not sure if there is corporate money there or not.

Very interesting... I wonder if something like that would be in our future. Would certainly help curb the extra costs of moving up and stadium expansion. Just seems wrong to call the stadium anything other than Kidd Brewer (unless one day it is changed to "Moore Stadium" or something like it). I'm curious what everyone would think about adding a corporate name/logo to our beloved stadium.

If we could get anything close to a $25 over 10 naming rights deal...then sign me up ASAP!!

without a crediable source, just aint buying it, but, if it ever happen, Lowes makes alot of sense, would be great to make the announcement today in conjunction with the announcement to move up. A corporate sponcer would certainly help "shut up" the idiots who have been preaching financial dome and gloom when we made the move, of course, Im sure they could put a spin on it and say we have just sold our souls to a corporation.

I for one believe Coach Moore's name should be somewhere. I was thinking naming the FIELD not the stadium.. Something Florida State did for Coach Bowden.. Just food for thought. thanks
