App on ESPN2

I see where the App St vs CCU game was picked up by ESPN2 after the victory yesterday. I also see where the index used for estimating the likely winner dropped for the Mountaineers. Perhaps due to the overall performance against GSU or Thomas getting injured? Perhaps both?

That index thing on ESPN.com is based on FPI, a system that is literally just whatever ESPN analysts think. It isn’t based on statistics or any real, measurable anything. I want everyone to ignore FPI forever. I will die on this hill.

How accurate is it?

In my humble opinion, Huesman is as good if not better than Thomas. At least at the present time. Not worried at all.

Met Jacob Huesman at Bella's banner elk last night with his parents, very impressive, confident, and respectful young man. He is all about team first!!!!!!! In my opinion Defense and Huesman won game.

We will all get to see how much Huesman, I have a feeling it is a lot, has progressed come this Saturday. It may very well be that we are in really good shape with him as our qb. I sure hope so.

When Zac was knocked out of the Stink game two years ago, if Jacob had been put in sooner we would have won that game. Always felt that way.

I hope Zac heals quickly, but I do believe that Huesman is a solid QB and capable of leading the Apps while Zac recovers. I do hope we have a better offensive game plan than we seemed to have against GSU.

Regarding Zac's injury, the hit itself didn't look particularly damaging. I think the injury was caused by the way he fell. Just what it looked like to me.

Peterson is going to have to let Huesman play. He may make some mistakes, but we can't have another conservative gameplan like the one we just witnessed. I'd rather go down swinging than wonder "what if."

I remember the naysayers when Elder was being flipped for a skinny twig who was just there to run the wildcat.....

Come on Watauga - you must have forgotten that Zac was knocked out on the 3rd play of the game :D

Wasn’t Peyton Derrick the backup before Heusman came in late?

I think the key is OC letting him play and being creative in play calling. Initially, I do believe some short throws or roll out easy passes to get H some confidence. I do believe that CC will do two things... 1. Load box to make us win with the pass.. and 2. Blitz early and often to rattle H. Hopefully game plan anticipates that... If Peterson is ultra conservative, we may have real issues if we cannot pressure the QB. The plan cannot be the basic hand off to the left or right to see what happens.. We are 7 games into the season. I do not believe teams "sandbag" or go "plain vanilla" 7 games in. Also, if we need ZT getting hurt to fire up the offensive line (someone quoted yesterday) we have some larger in-house issues.

On a related note, has Peterson been been an OC previously? If so, how explosive was his offense and how creative. Just not seeing it 7 games in as I believe the easy part of our schedule (excluding Marshall) has been the last 7 weeks. IMO, I have not been impressed with offensive philosophy given all the returning players.. And yes I am sure I have crazy expectations as I am a Homer for App.

I want to win this one bad. But I hope we don’t embarrass ourselves. There will be a lot of eyeballs on this game just like the Marshall one.

Getting smoked by Coastal Carolina would not be a good look. I think our defense will keep it close but I’m worried about our ability to do literally anything on offense.

Yes, Peterson has been an OC previously.
His resume? Meh...

I Live in the Myrtle Beach area and I'm not that worried about Coastal. I'm sensing a wee bit of cockiness down here.......and they are due for a loss. Huesman played against CCU when we played them there before and won. Deep breath guys and gals. The championship STILL has to go through Boone.

If the O line plays like they did most of the day yesterday, we get beat and beat pretty bad. If they play like they did for Jacob, I see a good game.
