ECU coach saying nice things about Chris Willis:
Among the most notable offseason additions for East Carolina was Appalachian State transfer Chris Willis. A part-time starter with the Mountaineers, Willis tore his Achilles in preseason camp last year and sought to transfer following the completion of his undergraduate degree.
Willis ended up at East Carolina, where he’s not only expected to compete for a starting spot at defensive end, but also provide leadership in a young position room.
“Very pleased with Chris Willis,” Houston said. “I think he’s come in and he’s been what I’d hoped he’d be, which is an experienced, older player with good practice habits. He’s got some fire and intensity in him. He really does a good job of being that disciplined player that you think you would have in an older guy. I think he’s shown a lot of that to the younger guys. And he’s not come in here with a big ego either. He’s come in and just worked.”
Good luck to the big guy!
