Fasten your seatbelt, here we go again!!!

The Appalachian State football program returned to practice on Friday, three days after the university shut down practices due to a COVID-19 cluster.

Doug Gillin, the athletics director at App State, said in a statement that the decision followed a scheduled round of testing for players and staff on Wednesday.

"Based on the results, the football team is returning to practice in small groups, or 'pods,'" Gillin said in the statement. "We are placing even more stringent capacity limits on shared facilities like the locker room and weight room."

The university announced late Tuesday that a group of 11 people associated with the program — seven athletes and four staffers — had active COVID-19 cases. By Thursday, according to Appalachian District Health Department, five players remained in isolation, meaning half of the group completed their isolation period during the roughly 48 hours after the university's announcement.

I hope these guys, and all young people, will realize they have to take this seriously if they want to have a football season. I hate that so many college students across the nation are missing an entire semester (at least) of what I remember as some of the best years of my life.

Don't blow it. The memories of my time at school are precious. I learned so much that they won't with online classes. It's not all about the classes, it's the experiences, and meeting new people, and being exposed to different thoughts and cultures.

Don't miss this time, young folks. It's more valuable than you know, and you will regret it immeasurably when you get older.

Please take it serious, and do what you're told to do. It's for your own good, and the greater good.

Better turn that North End Zone camera off or UNC Concord and Bull Belichik might team up for a little spygate session.

A little off topic but related. A rumor is circulating that the Clemson players all got together early this summer in an attempt to infect as many as possible. If it’s true it was an interesting strategy, let’s all get it now so we don’t have to worry about it during training camp or during the season. The rumors are giving all the credit for the strategy to the players.

As far as herd immunity, I'm hearing that there is about a 3 month immunity, then it is possible to catch again.
