ESPN+ - App/Sunbelt needs to negotiate with ESPN+
Sunbelt should negotiate a deal with ESPN to allow local commercials during the games. It would be a new revenue stream for us and I think we would sell spots. Maybe ESPN gets half and we get half. I would think some NC companies would want a spot with so many local eyes on it. Lots of dead time that could be revenue producing.

App could put together one commercial with a list of OFFICIAL sponsors of APPSTATE BASKETBALL. $10,000 each to be on it all year. Find 20 sponsors we can pay the coach an extra $200,000 to hopefully keep him.

Can you think of 20 companies that are in the area of App alumni and are consumer oriented that want to attract the eyes on the ad that would want to spend that much money just for App basketball. That seems to be a lot of money in a company's ad budget. I think something like $1,000 or $2,000 would be better and then put the money into food and drinks for students, though money for coaches could be a use.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 8:48 pmApp could put together one commercial with a list of OFFICIAL sponsors of APPSTATE BASKETBALL. $10,000 each to be on it all year. I have always thought that air time should be better used and I like the thinking to improve the finances.

10,000 is not much to a company and it is deducted as a business expense. True cost is about $7,000. Yes, I think many would buy.
Are our numbers released on how many are watching our games on ESPN+? $7,000 would be a deal if the add ran every time we had a commercial break.

I think App St should be the first to advertise..a plea to be in a conference that brings visiting "in conference" teams that actually sell out the stadium. $10,000 cost would be appropriate

Well, unless it is Amazon buying the add in which case the true cost would still be $10,000. Sorry....couldn't resist.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 10:02 pm10,000 is not much to a company and it is deducted as a business expense. True cost is about $7,000. Yes, I think many would buy.

IIRC, the existing contract is between the Sun Belt and ESPN with any pittance of revenue ESPN's willing to cough up being shared by the SBC admin and the member institutions equally. Everybody gets $999.99.
That's silly, of course, but you get my drift. If any big money's there at all, ESPN takes it.
