App vs NC in AP Poll

I was interested in how we stacked up against other North Carolina schools in the AP Poll for rankings. Since we joined the FBS in 2014, we have been ranked (including 1 week for this year's final ranking after bowls) for 9 weeks.

NC State - 12 weeks ranked (all in 2017 and 2018)
UNC - 13 weeks ranked (all in 2015 and 2016)
Wake Forest - 5 weeks (all this year)
Duke - 9 weeks (over '14,'15 and '18)
ECU - 6 weeks (all in 2014)

I know people like to dump on the ACC but it isn't as weak as people make it out to be.

In the 2000's to now the ACC has had the best bowl record 3 times, best other P5's have is twice.
BCS era ACC in the natty 4 times, won it twice.
BCS era teams added to ACC (Miami/VT) in the natty 3 times won it once.
CFP era ACC in 3 times and won it twice.

I could throw out more random stats but the picture pretty well can show that the ACC of the last 20 years really hasn't been a weak conference.

Where they finished should be the Apples to Apples comparison. I think we will finish 19th.

That’s what I’ll be interested to see too. I think we’ll finish higher than that; we’re already guaranteed to pass Boise, and you have to think more teams ahead of us will lose.

I think UNC finished around 15 that year. Not sure anyone else has ended up that high in this time.

Well, he finally has broke the camel’s back for me! This morning Mack Brown said that G5 should have their own championship. That’s how he started the answer to a question! He continued to belittle the games the mighty P5 schools play against FCS schools and included G5 in this answer. All of this was in one answer without distinguishing between between FCS and G5. He continued to say that they were “dangerous” and shouldn’t be played. The weasel continued by saying the playoff should be increased to 6 teams, giving each conference champion and one at large team a bid. This interview was on Golic and Wingo Christmas Eve morning. Hate is too light a word for how I feel toward the attitude of The ACC the P5 and in particular Cheat U and Bat Rastard brown!

I too was disappointed in his G5 comment. I do not think the p5 will ever drop the FCS and G5 games.

Sounds like he expects to lose to Temple to me. I was hoping that he would retire before they made it back up to Boone, but now I want him to witness the massacre first hand.

The P5 guys don’t want any competition for players or money but they do like having the G5 and FCS for a coaches training ground. Mr. Brown sure took advantage of the FCS to launch his coaching carrier. Disappointed in Mr. Brown, he said a lot of good things about App earlier this year. Then we beat him and now we’re not worthy of a game against them. Your right Mr. Brown, App against UNC is a dangerous game, for UNC.

I was looking for UNC in the CFP rankings and couldn't find them. Then I looked in the AP and Coaches and couldn't find them, so I looked in the "others receiving votes" and still couldn't find them. So I went to the CBS 130 and after scrolling for a while, I fount them at 52, which is behind 16 G5 teams, including 12 spots behind Temple their opponent that Mack thinks is not a legit matchup for UNC.

The reality is, a large portion of G5 programs are just as good or better than many P5 programs and these fledgling P5s do not want to admit that a G5 with less money and resources is better than them. It's an elitist attitude and quite pathetic. Mack is a senile bi**h. Merry Christmas old man, go and enjoy your coal.
