Could Our Ranking Weather A Loss?

Purely hypothetical exercise...given the AP voters' propensity to drop G5s for losing, at what point during the season, assuming we were still undefeated at that point, could our ranking weather a loss? Consider the opponent and where App *could* be ranked if still undefeated when we take on each opponent.
If you need a little help...
Could 6-0 App (#21) stay ranked with a loss at South Alabama?
Could 7-0 App (#__) stay ranked with a loss to Georgia Southern at home?
Could 8-0 App (#__) stay ranked with a loss at South Carolina?
Could 9-0 App (#__) stay ranked with a loss at Georgia State?
Could 10-0 App (#__) stay ranked with a loss to Texas State at home?
Could 11-0 App (#__) stay ranked with a loss at Troy?
** Keep in mind week after week App's ranking would conceivably rise. An 11-0 App could be in the top 15.

If we're 8-0 going into SC and give them a decent run and lose. I think we would stay ranked.
Given who and how the rest of our opponents have played; we lose to them and we'll drop out.

I think an 8-0 App with a loss on the road to an SEC team could stay ranked. Outside of that, I say no

*8-0 but point taken.

Depends on how bad the loss is and our ranking at that time. 19 ranked Wake dropped out after Louisville loss. I would expect the same.

It also depends on what other teams performance is during that week. A lot of teams that were on the cusp of being ranked won, the week that Wake lost.

Heck no. A close loss to South Carolina would still take us out. We take a SBC loss and we are out and no shot at getting back in. We just need to win and not worry about a loss until it happens.

I think that we could weather a loss to SC. May need some outside help though.

I think if we won out and lost a close one in the SunBelt Championship game to a UL team that wins out, we’d remain ranked and UL would start receiving votes.

Do you realize we've only beaten one team with a winning record? A loss would drop us out of the rankings. Our strength of schedule will hurt us in the end.

Why do we start all these threads waiting for the other shoe to drop? Let’s just enjoy the ride.

Because we keep winning and we’re afraid if we stop, that we’ll lose.

I enjoy the discussions and debates on good topics but I have to say this is not a good thread. Expect to win every game and don’t look for the consolation prize. For what it’s worth if we lose a game we will drop out. A 3 loss P5 would trump us.

To be fair, the same can be said for the SMU.

Oh, in that case, carry on.

We will not lose. Our mind set should be to build on each game moving forward and impress anyone who watches a clip of our games.

I don’t know about you guys, but my goals are to win the Sun Belt Championship and a bowl game with class, academic excellence, and cups with ice.
We absolutely would drop out of the Top 25 with a loss at South Carolina. But we’d be high in the RV and in winning out would most likely regain our status in the Top 25 at year’s end. But we’re not going to lose, so no worries.
