North Carolina -- Appalachian State: NC State was solid, but Appalachian State takes home the prize here. The Mountaineers went 11-2, won the Sun Belt and took Penn State to overtime in Happy Valley. How sustainable is it now that former coach Scott Satterfield moved on Louisville and Eliah Drinkwitz is in town? That remains to be seen.

I am optimistic with what we have returning. However, there remains the unknowns of how the new coaches mesh with the players and how Coach Drink will do with his first head coaching gig. I do feel like we will do well.

I don’t put much stock in preseason polls and predictions but the map in the article with our logo over the state is really something to see. I do believe we can become the football brand for NC. Nobody else has made it happen.

NOBODY should put too much stock in pre-season polls or rankings. It's great to be getting the publicity but it's mostly just something to keep fans busy in the off season.

I was looking for that thread and only found this one on the NCSU sub, in which they tend to agree with CBS for the most part:

New Jersey - No scholly and FCS Princeton is rated better than Prig5 and B10 Rutgers. Ouch, and to thank how far they fell from National Championships in 1869 with a 1-1 record. The 1-1 record was a split with the other co-national champion that year-Princeton.

Calling the Ivy League schools non-scholly is a bit misleading. They absolutely do award scholarships to athletes. The scholarships are just not technically athletic grants in aid. I can assure you that not many of those athletes are paying their own way.

I agree. No other program in the state has been able to carry the torch consistently. We have our basketball powerhouses, but no one has been able to step up to that level in football. I hope we can continue on our track and take that spot and become the football powerhouse in NC.

I know that, but it makes my post not as humorous.
Even with some money helping the student-athletes at Princeton it is still an Ivy League school at the FSC level being compared to a member of one of the strongest Prig5 conferences.
