Not us please.....I will take 9-2 10-1 sunbelt all day over 6-5 AAC

Average sports fan has no clue what the differences are in the conferences are outside the power 5.

With all due respect, the day we go 6-5 in any of the G5 conferences.... will you know, be a cold day in....

People said the same thing when we were ready to move to FBS and the SunBelt.
Would be awesome, but not sure our other sports have us in line to take that spot should it become available. GO APPS!!

Don't laugh, but Charlotte has to be in serious contention.

I would rather have the opportunity to play lower tier P5 schools in Bowl Games than the top 2 schools from the MAC and C-USA every other year.

You're insane if you'd rather stay in the Sun Belt over the AAC.

The AAC is the only conference I’d leave the SBC for (as the leagues are currently configured), but make no mistake that’s a move any G5 east of the Rockies would make.

Any thoughts about which teams might be more likely?

Depends if they go after locations or on the field performance.

Southern Miss and UAB have some friends from the old CUSA that could help them. If not they could go after UTSA, UNCC, or GA St. for bigger cities.

Army as a dark horse.

Agreed. No doubt.

Do you have any idea what they are getting paid for TV contracts compared to what we are getting in the SB? It would be program changing for us.

No idea. I know who I would hope, but I might be a tad bit biased.

It will be interesting to see if the AAC was paying attention when CUSA made their infamous realignment blunder. “Market over Merit” landed CUSA at a distant 10 of 10 in the conference pecking order.

This will be interesting for sure.

So maybe slightly more than $1.7 million a year from sunbelt as compared to $7 million per year for the AAC...
We could actually somewhat compete salary wise with smaller P5 schools and maybe not be in a constant revolving door with coaches leaving

AAC is leaps and bounds above the Sunbelt in both name and team recognition. Ill take AAC over Sunbelt any day of the week! They have the following teams:

UCF, Cincinnati, ECU, Houston, Memphis, South Florida, SMU, Temple, Tulane, and Tulsa

That lineup sounds WAY more appealing than what we have now. You think about it, we ran the tables in Sunbelt and get little recognition and a ranking at 25 (of course we screwed the pooch with GASouth). UCF ran the table in the AAC and got some serious ranking and notoriety. It would most def be a step in the right direction. My assessment is obviously not a technical one by any means, but a general overview of the current situation. Im all for it.......

Two things here.

1. You think 10-1 in SBC translates to 6-5 in AAC? You don't think our team last year could have finished say 8-4 in the regular season in that league? At the end of the year I think only UCF would have beaten us for sure. Cincinnati, Navy, Memphis, etc. would have been good games that we could have just as easily won as lost.

2. AAC is far better and if they want us we will indeed go. You may think the average fan feels like they are equal (and they do) but the media clearly gives the AAC more credit. If say Memphis, Houston, and UCONN are gone with this and Big 12 expansion we would be stupid not to go with Marshall and say GSU or ODU if the league invited us. If the AAC takes two SBC powers then the SBC falls from likely tied for 2nd best (with MWC) or 3rd best G5 league to tied with the MAC at the bottom.

The media gives way more credit to the AAC. There is no way DG turns them away if they offer us.
