This is really awesome. I hope that we really are this good.
"The most interesting team in the Résumé S&P+ top 10? Perhaps Appalachian State. The Mountaineers have done basically two things this year: nearly beat a top-10 Penn State team on the road and obliterate inferior competition — they’ve defeated Charlotte, Gardner-Webb, and South Alabama by an average score of 56-8. Typically, a résumé with one impressive loss and wins over nothing teams would be very hard to get a read on; Résumé S&P+ offers us a way."

I said it after the Penn State loss, and every week since that game. Those men in Boone are for real. It goes beyond talent too. The togetherness atmosphere that exists on this team and recent teams is something most coaches will only ever dream to have, yet Satt & Co. have done a hell of a job. I feel that togetherness with the mix of winning has brought App Nation closer together, after the transition and Coach Moore debacle pulled us a little more apart. I have a lot of confidence in this team, and I hope that every game going forward we lay it on the opponent. I don't want there to be any doubts from outsiders at the end of the year about App State's legitimacy. Time for the entire nation to realize or be reminded....We are for real.

The next three weeks will prove whether or not we're a G5 juggernaut or if we've just been playing against horrible programs. I believe we can run the table, but if stAte, Stink and Troy are as good as everyone thinks they are and we beat them decisively, we probably could make a very strong argument that we have one of the strongest schedules in the G5.
I hate the strength of schedule arguments, you look at every conference out there and there's typically 2-3 standout teams in a division while the rest are mediocre to abysmal. The SEC's been like that for years. Alabama, Georgia, sometimes Auburn, sometimes LSU and then everyone else.

I went back to our last loss to ULM and since that time we have outscored our opponents 362-91. This includes the loss to Penn State. This trend has been building for some time and I'm excited to see it continue. Crazy to think that our record could easily be better and, realistically, our placement on this list even higher.

Cool analysis. If I remember correctly, didn't we have some key injuries that hurt us in the ULM game? That was even during the period when Jalin was recovering from injury and not 100%, and defensive injuries at LB?. Where I'm headed here is that I think our depth has improved dramatically this year with this group of young players and I don't think a few key injuries would have as large of an impact this year. I'm not dissing last year's team at all, they were awesome especially dealing with the injury bug, just saying that we're better deeper this year pretty much everywhere it seems.Boonegoon wrote: ↑Tue Oct 02, 2018 12:14 pmI went back to our last loss to ULM and since that time we have outscored our opponents 362-91. We were without Stringer, the greatest Eagle-Hatin' LB we've ever had.Rick83 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 02, 2018 1:44 pmCool analysis.
