BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University would like to thank all of the purchasers of season tickets and single-game tickets for the Southern Miss football game, which was originally scheduled for Sept. 15, 2018 but was canceled due to increasing concerns associated with Hurricane Florence. After exploring options to reschedule, it has been determined that the game will not be played in 2018.

App State Athletics has amended its policy of no refunds or exchanges for the Southern Miss game due to the circumstances surrounding this cancellation.

Season ticket holders and single-game buyers can call the athletics ticket office at 828-262-2079 to exchange their Southern Miss ticket(s) for the same number of reserved or general admission ticket(s) to a future home game (not including the Oct. 20 game vs. Louisiana). These tickets will be allocated based on availability.

Those season ticket holders and single-game buyers who are not able to exchange their tickets for another game during the 2018 regular season can request a $35 discount (per ticket) off the following ticket opportunities: •2018-19 Men's Basketball Season Tickets
•2018-19 Women's Basketball Season Tickets
•2018-19 Wrestling Season Tickets
•2019 Baseball Season Tickets
•2018 Bowl Game Tickets
•2019 Football Season Tickets
Requests for 2018 bowl game and 2019 football season ticket discounts must be made in writing to the Appalachian State Athletics ticket office (athletictickets@appstate.edu) no later than Friday, Oct 5. These offers are not available should tickets be exchanged during the 2018 regular season.

Students who purchased a student guest ticket for the Southern Miss game can call the athletics ticket office at 828-262-2079 to exchange it for a student guest ticket to a future home game.

Season club and suite holders can call the athletics ticket office at 828-262-2079 to exchange their Southern Miss ticket(s) for the same number of reserved or general admission ticket(s) to a future home game (not including the Oct. 20 game vs. Louisiana). These tickets will be allocated based on availability.

Deadline to redeem your ticket from the canceled game is Friday, Oct. 5 at noon. Redemption opportunities include only regular-season home games and not a potential appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game.

I see an advantage to this come crunch time in Sun Belt play. We shall be one game fresher than our late season opponents.

Said there’s a tentative agreement to play the game during the 2024 season. App State has a home game open in 2023, but that spot will likely go to an FCS school. Will play at UNC, vs. ECU and at Wyoming that year.

What kind of deal is that? Those individuals already have premium tickets for all games.

I took credit towards my 2019 season tickets. Seemed like the best deal.

Sorry I think it’s total crap that they are not playing it. Could have been played early on Saturday or Friday. Now they are giving us very little time to figure out where to put money down on a future purchase? Yeah that’s not good.

Do we know the whole story? Maybe we dropped the ball. Maybe Southern Miss did not cooperate. Hard to point fingers until we know all the facts.

How bout exchanging our tickets for Sunbelt championship game tickets if we play at home.....which I’m planning on.

I’m not going to ask for a credit for my 4 season tickets. I’m just considering it a donation to a program that needs every $ it can get.

According to an article in today's Greensboro paper (which I couldn't find on-line) our admin tried to play the game earlier or at a neutral site and Southern Miss wouldn't agree to the change.

It's pretty clear at this point that USM was happy to have an excuse not to play the game. App offered every conceivable alternative, and they wouldn't agree to any of them. I don't care if we ever play them again or not.

Maybe they did the math and figured they can confidently beat CUSA juggernauts Rice, UTSA, UTEP, Charlotte and UAB and get their bowl bid without having to worry about an extra OOC date.

Agreed, unless it's a bowl game, I never want to see them on our schedule again!!! Once the current contracts expire, that is.

I decided to take the credit towards next year's football season tickets. Seemed like the safest bet.
I was planning on do the bowl game, but ya never know how/if that will go.

Lets go at least 10-1, or make it 12-1, with a SB champ and killer bowl!
