Don't know if this will hold, however, 2nd quarter:

#16 Miss State 10

Hummmm

Whoa. Maybe they really are turning a corner.

(Still pissed that we lost to them.)

Halftime UMass still leads.

Apparently, UMass lead at halftime last year and gave up 28 points in the second half. Here's hoping that doesn't happen today.

Them beating Miss State doesn't change the fact that we made some terrible mistakes and played horribly last week.

Hope they (UMess) pull it off this time. Regardless, last week is going to sting for a long time. Crap!

It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall in their locker room about now. Then again, in my case, I'd probably get smacked with a swatter. :)

UMass played them tough for the entire game. The final score only looked wider because UMass threw a pick 6 at the end of the game.

and Coastal lost to Arkansas 39-38 - All of our opponents whom some want to write off as a bunch of sisters of the poor are trying their best to win football games ---

My guess is Miss State was looking past UMass to this weekend when they play Alabama.

probably so - but college football in today's world is you had better show up and play well or you might just find yourself in some real trouble ---

I have no doubt that Mississippi State was looking past UMass, but even then you would expect the #16 team in the country to physically dominate a "bad" team, right? The truth is that UMass is a better team than their record indicates. I know some don't believe that's possible, but it is. Being an independent also causes them to distribute their schedule differently so they don't have cupcake games lines up early. Granted, they obviously choked against Coastal early in the season, but Coastal is capable of playing football as well, as we saw in Boone as as they showed again in Arkansas Saturday.

Sagarin rankings of our FBS opponents:

3. Georgia
179. Texas State
29. Wake Forest
121. New Mexico State
137. Idaho
169. Coastal Carolina
123. UMass
154. UL-Monroe

In case you're wondering, we're 126. Believe we were in the 40s or 50s the previous two years.
