The defense always does. But your point is taken.

I will say this much....... App does carry a certain type of "magic" with them on most occasions. We don't ever, EVER, quit and we seem to find a way to win even if it is ugly. This team needs to wake up earlier in games. However, for today, I was really impressed with their never say die attitude and the way that the whole team lifted each other up over the last 30 minutes. As always, it is great to be a Mountaineer!

That's a positive angle. I would argue it's not really magic to dominate teams for a half or a quarter that we used to dominate for entire games.

But yes, hope the team can start faster in future games.

We are a run first team that takes way too long to get the run game going.

Point blank, the offense is not as good as it's been in previous years. Three first downs in a half don't allow you to have time to open up the playbook or get into any type of play-calling rhythm. Last year, we could run on anybody. This year, not so much.
Our defense allows plays when they've had to carry the team for an entire half. But, we also start with a vanilla defensive game plan and tend to turn up the complexity as the game progresses.

The defense was about as dominate as possible in the second half. Sims and Boggs were unblockable. The offense has to get going earlier in games....my heart can't take many more of these Cardiac App games.

Even when it was 20-0, I felt App could win.

This team, if anything, knows they can play in the fourth quarter.

Agreed with all. Good effort but need better starts. We are too talented to have only 3 first half first downs. We really need to throw it more intermediately.

There is magic on the mountain. Reminder, 3 of our 11 starters are true freshman. We had none last year on offense. Our snaps are certainly better, and we have less dead ball personal fouls, however, run blocking assignments and timing has room to improve.
GIVE 'EM HELL APPS!

I'd love to see 4th quarter play calling all game.

The first half was downright frustrating to watch on both sides of the ball. Whatever adjustments were made at halftime, were obviously perfect, but it sure would be nice to see that kind of effort for four quarters. These games are aging me.

3 conference games, 3 wins.
3 gut-wrenching, blood pressure elevating, ugly wins

It's pretty obvious how good Collins, Collmar and Cox were.

Aside from the talent, Parker set the tone up front. He was nasty and he made everyone else better because of it.
