Re: Who will wear "14"
Doesn't look like we'll know until everyone is here and the roster is updated. And I would hold my breath. I've been waiting for DL EJ Scott to be added for months. Maybe once they get the bugs out of the new site they will be more proactive in getting the updates done. Would love to put a post in the Roster Updates thread but have to actually see them added before I post them.

Either retire it or make it an honorary number that goes to a star veteran player.

Re: Who will wear "14"
I think it is always good for App State to have a #14 on the field. Would like to un-retire all jersey #s and honor the player names and the years they played not their numbers in the stadium. Anyway whoever get's #14 I believe will be special. "Legacy".

Who would have voted for Armanti to wear 14 his freshman year? - or Marcus?App91 wrote:Make it a legacy number that the team votes on.

Re: Who will wear "14"
I'm not a superstitous guy or anything...but that #14 has some serious mojo so I say let's keep it on the field and figure out some other way to honor Armanti and Marcus...with patches on it or something.

Re: Who will wear "14"
Well...After Armanti we had Barnes and Price wear it, and that didn't pan out so well. Marcus Cox has returned the greatness associated with the number 14 (Armanti era and after). Hopefully whoever takes the number next will follow the path of the two greatest and not the other two.

Re: Who will wear "14"
Price would've been a special player if he could've gotten the off-field stuff right...what a waste of talent./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Well...After Armanti we had Barnes and Price wear it, and that didn't pan out so well. But that's kind of the point isn't it? It's special because of those guys.WVAPPeer wrote:Who would have voted for Armanti to wear 14 his freshman year? - or Marcus?App91 wrote:Make it a legacy number that the team votes on.

Re: Who will wear "14"
Well I don't get your point - as a true freshman the rest of the team would never have voted Armanti to wear a legacy number - I don't understand what the philosophy is with "retired numbers" - It has been done and since it has been done I absolutely don't understand that the greatest player in history doesn't have his number retired and now the all-time leader rusher - Retire the number with both Armanti and Marcus ---

Re: Who will wear "14"
What if the players think the legacy player should be someone say Beau Nunn? - he can't wear #14 - therefore it is limited to certain position players ---

Just put in a ring of honor. Look at the Yankees. No single digits are available anymore

Re: Who will wear "14"
Kind of hard to compare MLB or NFL to college football. MLB has a 40 man roster (active even less), NFL is 53 come season. College football teams, especially FBS football teams, can have well over 100 players on the sidelines. We already have to double up on numbers on O and D that can't ever be on the field at the same time. If you start retiring numbers eventually you run out because there is or used to be an NCAA rule that you can't have triple digits (have to check to see if it's still there but I haven't heard otherwise). Some of the most storied programs have had to make changes because of this. A program like App can get away with it for a while be eventually we have to stop as well.
