We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Although I agree with it, I really doubt the no Friday games is going to happen anytime soon. The networks have too much say over that.

Re: AFCA endorses...
I think an early signing period is needed overall. I'm not sure how it would affect us. I imagine the idea is that all those guys who entertain late offers from other schools and possibly decommit would be locked in and you wouldn't have to worry about them. But I suspect the kids who are holding out hope for a P5 offer, or otherwise not quite final in their decision, would just not sign in December and wait it out until February anyway.
Also I think if you have early signing, there should be a clause in there that automatically lets a recruit out of his commitment if the head coach leaves the school. But I'm sure that won't happen since the AFCA is going to be all about protecting coaches' interest, not recruits'.

I think by the third year of an early signing period, that the majority of three star and above players will sign during the early period.
I agree that recruits can opt out if the coach they signed with leaves.
If we had an early period App would have likely had one less decommittment in 2017.

The biggest advantage to an early period will be that coaches won't have to spend time on so many committed players up to the February period. Our coaches are spending a good bit of time keeping up with committed guys right now even though we have a number of spots open.

DeBose? I don't think an early signing period would have saved us from losing him. Or am I forgetting someone?Saint3333 wrote:I think by the third year of an early signing period, that the majority of three star and above players will sign during the early period.

DeBose has been our only decommit so far. And no, he would not have signed early, despite having several P5 offers already when he committed. Most were not committable offers at the time and he and his coach knew he would be getting more traffic and that some of those offers would probably become committable. And keep in mind that he decommitted on Oct 16th. The proposed early period is the same time as JUCO's can sign, 3rd Wed in Dec. We normally don't like place holders but some guys are good enough that you take a flyer on them, just in case something happens.EastHallApp wrote:DeBose? But we do have a few guys in this class who would have signed early if the option had been there.
