Needed to do a major update for the weather trends and homecoming. Sunshine yes, rain will be gone, but winds.. oh how the winds will blow and temperatures will be cold. It's a hardy Mountaineer soul that will dress in layers, pack some "Apple Pie" and relish celebrating what it means to be a Mountaineer this week!

Oh yeah, buckle up baby, this one will chill the lesser dressed to the bone. Winds may start diminishing through the day, but the huff and puff likely continues through the game.

The Blustery Breakdown:

6 AM : Partly cloudy, upper 30s, Winds NW 10 - 20 MPH, gusts to 35 MPH. W/C mid to upper 20s.

8 AM : Partly cloudy, upper 30s, Winds NW 10-20 MPH, gusts to 40 MPH. W/C mid to upper 20s.

Noon : Partly to mostly sunny, Lower to mid 40s, winds NW 10-20 MPH, gusts to 30 MPH, W/C upper 30s.

KICKOFF : Mostly sunny, Mid 40s, winds NW 10-20 MPH, gusts 25-30 MPH, W/C upper 30s to lower 40s.

Halftime : Sunny to mostly sunny. Mid to upper 40s, winds NW 10-20 MPH, gusts 25-30 MPH, W/C lower 40s.

END OF GAME : Clear sky. Mid 40s, winds NW 10-20 MPH, gusts to 25 MPH, W/C upper 30s


Blame the deepening low up over the NE, and the strong high pressure trying to build in from the SW. Layer it on, and come on up, it's Homecoming ! At least this year, it won't be raining!

I'm looking forward to seeing the fall color tomorrow. Hopefully the wind doesn't pull the leaves off.

Been coming to Boone for over 30 years and been caught unprepared many times. Some of my favorite App apparel was bought by necessity. Everyone has a story of going to class in shorts and coming out to snow. My daughter thought I was exaggerating until her first "Spring" in Boone.

My story is going to class early in the morning in a big winter coat and coming out of class in nice warm (by Boone winter standards) weather. So warm I forgot I did not have my coat on. Bye coat. It was a nice coat.
