Based on yesterday, I feel that's the best option. Go Apps!

What do you feel we should do (or not do) differently?

I don't think it would have mattered. They just out played us. Better athletes, more speed, a more experienced coach with proven success at UGA. I just hope Miami did not expose our weaknesses too bad. Run a hurry up, and test our corners and you have a shot to win. Yesterday was bad. Very bad. I didn't think we'd win, but I didn't expect what I saw yesterday. Time to move on and focus on the rest of the schedule. One game at a time.

I am close with Pastor Reggie (Team's Pastor) and he did say the players were upset that at the ODU game all that was talked about from outsiders, marketing, apparel, was Miami. I understand why though. Biggest game in KBS history. It will probably happen again, but now the players and coaches know how to handle the "pressure". As a fan, other than the result, I had one hell of a time yesterday. And I must say, the scenery gets better and better each year.

I agree completely with the OP that we built this game up too much and all the hype got our guys too jacked up instead of just focusing on playing the game. That goes for the coaches as well. Im not saying we shouldn't do everything to make the in game experience great, but some of the extras like a pep rally should get cut out.

The good news is we've had the big circus now so for the next big name its time to act kike it's business as usual. We aren't the first or last school fight for respect on the national spot light the get too jacked up. Time to move on to Akron.

Way too much hype. The team and the coaches were just overwhelmed. It was VERY obvious that Miami was in their heads. It was hard to watch. So then I got home and slept on it and felt better this morning. I made the mistake of watching it today and it was worse than I thought. We built Miami up way too much and we went in afraid. In the future we need to act like we belong. We need to act like it is a privilege for teams to come here not we are privileged to have them. They are a better team but the discrepancy in the score was mental. We played confused and afraid on both sides of the ball.

well to be fair, Wake will be just another game in comparison. theres no hype or history around that program like there was with the U, and they're a historically familiar opponent.

i really wish we would start scheduling more of the lower tier P5 schools, a la NDSU. games where we know we have a legit chance of winning

Someone asked in another thread why folks thought NDSU has so much success with P5's. I agree with this opinion. I think they're really good but they also strategically schedule programs with whom they match up well. I haven't done any research but it seems like their opponents are always Midwestern to Northeastern programs that play similar styles of football (i.e., pro style Os).

Why do we get curb stomped by every P5 except Tennessee and our contemporaries either beat or lose closer to usually higher ranked P5's? Do other programs make such a huge deal about playing P5's? It has to add pressure. Agree, all future games should be treated the same

Do I really pull for a team that is so unprepared and so poorly coached that MY excitement about a game causes a problem? What I saw in the stands was amazing. I am so impressed with our students for showing up early like that for a noon game. Find another program where that happens. What I saw on the field was embarrassing. I saw poor tackling and no discernable game plan. I wonder what it might have been like if the team were as prepared and as excited about playing Miami IN BOONE ON ESPN, as the fans were. I'll do my part when Wake comes to town and stay mum. Anything to avoid that kind of SatterFAIL.

Wow. Don't know where to go with that one. These types of days happen. I remember one day in Blacksburg five years ago.

What I did see was this was not a case where Miami could score at will. VT could have dropped a hundred on us that was one of the most unprepared teams at app ever in Blacksburg .miami jumped 10 spots to 15 in new poll and when they beat Georgia tech they may be ranked top10 . Watching the defense yesterday really caught me off guard by how unprepared they were and never made any adjustments. The offense is what it is at his point and with injuries at running back and lack or throwing game we may have a lot harder time With the rest of the season. I for one am watching and waiting for what the team will look like at Akron .

Lots of coping mechanisms going on here. I guess "we were too excited" is easier to tell oneself than "we aren't as good as we thought."

Wow just looked at the rankings. Two years ago if this game is played with the same results Miami doesn't climb 10 spots. That makes me feel a lot better about some parts of the loss. I have commented that it is bothersome that some of out contemporaries have beaten higher ranked G5's or came closer to beating some. If Tennessee and Miami finish in the top 15 we can take solace that we didn't lose to flukes. Miami just might be legit. Preseason rankings are meaningless. I mean Louisville beat the crap out of FSU!

Are we just getting completely unrealistic with ourselves? A few guys use the expression "pump the brakes". That sounds like sound logic. We make a freaking XP and we probably knock of UT. Miami exposed our big weakness. We can still go 10-2. A win next week puts us where (if we are completely honest with ourselves) we probably should be. Truth be told next week's game is a real barometer for our program right now. Let's whip some Zip ass!

In reality both are true. We are not a terrible team by any means we are just not as good as the hype we built up around ourselves.
