Would love it to be Riley, but if I'm not mistaken, his contract at Clemson through 2026 is for $1.75 million a year. Very doubtful we can compete with the money. Yeah he may want to be an HC, but his stsr is bright enough not to have to go backwards to get that gig.

Brown was 3-17 vs ranked teams, and never had WVU ranked in 6 seasons. Clark has more top 10 wins than Brown over the same time period

Not advocating for Brown, but expecting high levels of success for WVU in the Big12 is as misguided as expecting success for Rutgers in the Big Ten or Vanderbilt in the SEC.

So we won’t hire a very successful former Sun Belt Coach, or a guy who appears to have turned around two FCS programs because they haven’t won enough…

For an OC who hasn’t even called plays, another OC who hasn’t called plays, another OC whose offense had one good year at Clemson, a DC who hasn’t called plays…

Gillin wants the shiny name. That much is clear. If you want a coach, who can win, there are two names that I would look into, personally. Appears now that neither of those guys got much of a look. And the criteria for which they were judged on is completely absent in the case of those who were favored.

Does he even call plays? Or does Rhett call the plays? What are this dudes qualifications to go from game week assistant to leader of a program? Particularly when other candidates were dismissed, despite leading programs far above their expectation level in two cases, because “they just didn’t win enough” (attributed to an anonymous source close to the decision making process)

I got no problem with the triple option if the QB is making both reads and it’s not pre-determined. Takes a good QB. Keeps the defense off the field and games don’t last 4 hours. I love watching Army play. But most college programs want great entertainment with the ball thrown all over the field in place of fans recognizing good solid football. Of course, you can play solid football throwing it around but you’ll be there all day. Remember what Woody Hayes said about passing.

Same thing in basketball. Jacking quick 3s and dunking (the NBA model) has replaced good sound screening and working for a shot. Most fans don’t recognize good fundamental ball when they see it.

I’m an old guy talking so young ‘uns will not agree. No problems here. Watch it or don’t.
