Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Addition of an OC is a no-brainer. Changing up the staff could make a difference. But if you don’t have players who are hungry, hate to lose and play with a chip on their shoulder, does it matter?

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
In the named starting lineup for both defense and offense, one player on O and one player on D listed NC as their home. Overall, I want to get good players no matter where they are from .but be nice for more stickiness in NC to get people in NC more connected.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 7:42 amSupport among fans or support in the administration?
You always expect fans to overreact (and I’m in that bunch) but administrators need to take a medium term view.
What is DLO plans for next year? This year is shot maybe we get to 6 wins but probably not.
Imo he needs to commit to changing the staff to make room for a real OC. Hopefully he’ll be able to bluster his way to some NIL funds.
Imo one legit criticism of DG is our lack of presence in CLT. We are never going to get anywhere expecting normal People to fund NIL. We need to embed ourselves with the corporate community in Charlotte and show them investing in us gives them dividends with our national brand. I wouldn’t be opposed to dg moving down here full time for fundraising. I can assure you this is uncc #1 objective

How do you build a culture of people who want to win and not just expect to win? We have guys but not enough. Let’s see what Dowell can do when given the opportunity to do what he does best - recruit.

RECRUITING. You would have thought that if we hired one of the most winningest coaches in NC high school football, we would be able to recruit them. Hopefully that changesBambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:06 amIn the named starting lineup for both defense and offense, one player on O and one player on D listed NC as their home. Re: Roster/Staff Updates
We’d be 2-7 without Dubinion, Dozier, Cummings and Barnes. Absolutely no production from returning roster guys on both sides of the ball really but especially offense.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:06 amHow do you build a culture of people who want to win and not just expect to win? 1 more offseason to get more talent and flip the FCS roster.

Hope so .. whether you like him or hate him, one of mack browns stated goal was to win high school recruiting in NC. Although it is difficult in nc given number of power programs and EasyU, we still need to try to win. I am glad kids from SC and Gawgia want to come, however, we need more than one on each side of ball...being talented would help as wellASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:07 amRECRUITING. Re: Roster/Staff Updates
IMO if they weren't willign to give DLo 2 years then they never should have hired him.
I realize the leash is much shorter these days. But 1/2 of an offseason with a poor team isn't enough objectively speaking (and I hated last night as much as anyone). As a fan of course I have my pitchfork out and for sale sign ready, but its the admin and $$ job to be objective.

Agreed..but DLo hired late to get recruits. Had no relationships really in NC I assume...so, went to where he had relationships..311neers wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:10 amWe’d be 2-7 without Dubinion, Dozier, Cummings and Barnes. He needs to continue to do that but increase our presence in NC if possible. Just my opinion

I do not know DLo. So, no connection... A guy needs more than two years given the state of the roster... Unless it all falls off the cliff..

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
i'm less concerned with having a moat around NC. for most of our best years, Georgia was our #1 state. I looked back at our 2016 class (stacked) we only had 6 NC recruits, same as 2026BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:12 amAgreed..but DLo hired late to get recruits. You want more fan engagement in a city, a natural link is to have more players from that city to be ambassadors, etc.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:19 ami'm less concerned with having a moat around NC. for most of our best years, Georgia was our #1 state. If we can get just as good players from Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh..make concerted effort to get them
But, of course, if the best place is from SC or Gawgia, you go with the best talent and fit.

The best in NC go elsewhere. Always been the case.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:19 ami'm less concerned with having a moat around NC. for most of our best years, Georgia was our #1 state. Our recruiting hotbeds have been Atlanta (Georgia), South Florida, and then small towns in Alabama/South Carolina.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
You can’t make a decision to hire a first time HC and then retract your support in year 1. If that is what those in administration are doing, then they are the problem.
You have to give a coach time to recruit, learn, make adjustments and field a team to his vision. Right now we have a misfit group with a good portion of them already looking ahead to the offseason. This roster will need to be flipped over again.

To be clear , he isn’t going anywhere. Not anytime soon anyway , unless that’s his decision. However, in several conversations last night , it is obvious that the shine has worn off in this three game losing streak to peer programs .

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Most definitely agree here.
To be fair, how many starters have we lost the past few weeks?
3 starters on defense kicked off the team.
1 kicked off at WR along with other injuries. (Lawson Jr) (Didn't see Hamlet last night either)(or Doopah)
A couple OL injuries.
Our best pass catching option in Cummings.
Swann's elbow might be hurt.
No Kanye.
Dubinion has been banged up.
Every team goes thru this, but with our thin depth, we just couldn't afford to lose guys. Next man up mentality, but we just might not have next men up.
I'm excited to see what DLo can do in the portal because he found some great guys in his first transfer class.

It will also be interesting to see if we come to play next week , and the week after. Can the staff hold the team together to at least be respectable?

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I am interested in how we rebuild our trenches and defensive backfield. I honestly believe that good offensive skill position players are readily available to G6 programs and many can shine given the chance. I want to see our trenches be dominant. Fortunately, that has been a heavy focus and 12 of our 22 commits are OL (not counting TEs) or DL. Will these kids sign with us and develop into stars? Time will tell but it is clear that we are trying to rebuild the trenches and that is a good thing.
As far as DL goes, he should get at least 3 years but if there is zero improvement after year 2 it could get ugly. I didn't know what to expect this year but what I was hoping to see was improvement as the year progressed. I don't think anyone can successfully argue that our team has improved as the season has progressed, and that has me a bit concerned.
