Re: How’s it feel…? Post-JMU
My take on the game is that we played a grueling schedule leading up to Saturday's game and it took its toll. JMU had a much easier schedule, including a bye week, ahead of us meaning they were rested and had 2 weeks to game plan for us.
This coaching staff and this team are going to win a lot of games and challenge for the SBC East and the championship as well. This team has also given us national notoriety that is still being talked about including one of the biggest wins in 100 years of our playing football. The national attention we've received is going to pay dividends for years to come...and not just for football. The stature of our great institution has been elevated thanks to these players and coaches who work their tails off year round.
There is no question that our players have heart...some of our fans...I'm not so sure. I'd suggest some of you switch to pulling for UGA or Alabama, etc. so that you're more likely to have an undefeated season to celebrate and feel good about yourselves.
To give you an indication of where I am as a Mountaineer fan, my wife and I spent a couple of hundred dollars on App gear AFTER THE GAME and trust me we were already well stocked on App wear.
I am nothing but proud of our players, coaches, administration, and our entire program.

Well said, Rick83.
It ain't nothing but an AppState Party!!! That's All!!!
I am sure some students made the best of a great weekend and made some great memories even with a loss. I got to deepen friendships with long time App friends even with a L. Our coaching staff and AppState chancellor are class acts....it is my main goal for my alma mater.

That is all true but we were tested and that should have been an advantage. They are also in first year transitioning to FBS so no excuse there. You can't keep looking for an excuse to lose because there is none except bad coaching and execution.Rick83 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 9:27 amMy take on the game is that we played a grueling schedule leading up to Saturday's game and it took its toll. Keep in mind that in both of our losses we have blown a 14 and 25 point lead. Hopefully we don't blow anymore double digit leads the rest of the year because if this happens again we can officially call it a big problem. We can't take any game for granted but October should be easier. No excuses to lose a game next month. Our October schedule is similar to JMU's schedule before us.

Some of these folks would fit right in with the UGA fans I know. I've heard many of them absolutely furious that UGA didn't beat Samford by enough and let Kent State hang around for too long last week.Rick83 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 9:27 amMy take on the game is that we played a grueling schedule leading up to Saturday's game and it took its toll. Not necessarily. Those three games were taxing on multiple levels. Our guys have got to be tired. It happens. It doesn’t mean the program is in the toilet. Honestly I don’t know what you want people to say. Folks come on here and try to bring some perspective and balance to the jmu game and you aren’t having it. The beatings will continue until moral improves approach seems counter productive at this point. I don’t know why you keep torturing yourself. The game is done. We blew it. Hopefully we improve moving forward. Bludgeoning the same point of our failures over and over with zero room for possible contributing factors is only going to drive you crazy.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 11:02 amThat is all true but we were tested and that should have been an advantage. Re: How’s it feel…? Post-JMU
That is crazy. They were just trying to stay healthy. We all know they could have won by 50 if they wanted. They just needed to win by double digits over KSU and they have a tough schedule that allows them to prove how good they are. If they played in a weak league I could see concern over margins against bad teams but they are in the SEC where just going undefeated means you are likely the best team in the country.MrCraig wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 11:50 amSome of these folks would fit right in with the UGA fans I know. Re: How’s it feel…? Post-JMU
I think they were taxing because we had the shootout in week 1 and then pulled the big upset and had Game Day. I am not even mad we are 2-2. I expected it. I just think blowing a 25 point lead is no excuse. It happens but rare and it shouldn’t have happened.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 12:23 pmNot necessarily. This schedule was tough but we got people arguing on here that all G5 champs should get in playoff and this is why I argue every league shouldn’t be guaranteed anything. Scheduling difficulty is the difference in G5 and P5 along with depth and top end talent. They got schedules like we just had every month and sometimes tougher. If you want to be given much easier schedules to start then we can’t sit here and complain when a P5 is ranked ahead of us at 9-3 when we are 11-1.
I predict we sweep October with pretty solid margins since that schedule is easier and we have a bye week in the next month. We should 100% be 6-2 when we play Coastal Carolina. November is a tough month for a G5 and should tell us exactly where we are. Shawn has a softer schedule and time to fix things before we play the best teams in the east. If we somehow lose a game in October then we are in major trouble come November and will likely go 1-3 or 0-4 then. Let’s see where we are by mid November.

Oh I know. Some of those Dawg fans are unhinged. I had the App- Texas A&M game on in the bar where I work and had UGA fans asking if we could switch it to their game real quick because "it's still only 30-0. We haven't scored in the third quarter. Something must be going on."AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 1:43 pmThat is crazy. They were just trying to stay healthy. We all know they could have won by 50 if they wanted.
