At all our P5 games to date I've always been treated well by the opposing fans. Mostly respectful, maybe slightly condescending but not so much that it was offensive. And I've been respectful to their fans, enjoyed good football conversations and usually end up pulling for their team for the rest of the season.

I don't see that happening at UNCheat.

Did you go to LSU? It was not as bad as I thought it would be, but it was the worst I've seen. Most people were respectful, but the ones that weren't got pretty nasty. It was a morning game due to the hurricane evacuation. I can't imagine a night game down there.

I can not wait to see the meltdown that occurs on their board when this gets announced.

* they're scared
* nobody wants to play a TO offense
* we won't give up a money game just to host a big name.

Also on our scheduling Miami they're convinced it just "fell into our laps" and if they hadn't had a conference game that week they would've gotten Miami, not us. Their new excuses are "App gets P5s to come to Boone because App isn't good against P5s" and "App is in a better location (relative to in-state P5s)".

Yeah, the whole argument that Miami kinda just happened, is starting to lose steam. Once this UNC deal is finalized, we might see a lot of opportunities pop up. Unfortunately there's some truth to that. Regardless, I doubt it factors into scheduling. No middle-of-the-pack P5 in their right mind should think they can roll into Boone and pick up an easy win at KBS. Miami was a fluke.

My dad went to NC State so I was raised a State fan. I still try to keep up with State athletics but not near as much as I used to. Lately I root more for UNC to lose than I do for State to win. I've found the order of my rooting interest to be:
1) App
2) Anybody playing Cheat
3) NC State

No thanks on Missouri. Look to stay within our recruiting footprint unless we can snag a truly remarkable name brand school that falls outside that range. If this deal gets inked with the Thrill, he should be calling Duke and State!

UVA would be reasonable and winnable in my opinion. They get some of the top ranked P5 programs into home and homes which may make it less likely to happen however.

Match-ups against UCF and USF would also have their benefits.

No to Missouri? A state flagship (SEC) institution? I'd prefer Kentucky because they're a little closer and easier to drive to, but I'd be thrilled to get the Tigers in Boone.

Only place I have ever had an issue was NC State. Worse than Southern for me.

I went to both LSU games and aside from the "Tiger Bait" chants when you walked thru the student tailgates I thought the fans were great. After the 2008 hurricane game, one of the LSU alums sitting next to me pretty much dragged me and my misses to their after game tailgate. He was impressed by Armani even in defeat and wanted to know more about our program. We couldn't get back to the NO airport so we decided to drive our rental car back to Atlanta that day. The LSU on campus hotel was gracious to let us cancel our reservations for that night so we could leave. I would love to go back again.

Most UNC fans I knew while in school at App really only supported the UNC basketball program. Better be all black and gold with a small visitors section strip of God awful blue.

Yeah it's a basketball thing. I know a lot of UNC basketball homers that aren't grads, but very few that are true Tarhill football fans.

I was at LSU and didn't experience anything negative at all. I guess it just depends on luck of the draw.

A) They started a whole social media campaign literally begging Vanderbilt to play a home-and-home with them. Vanderbilt. It failed.

B) Georgia Southern has exactly one win over a P5 team in program history. App has something like 9 or 10.

IMO the real problem for them is their AD. Either he lacks the talent or will to put together a decent schedule, or their finances are so bad that they have to play two money games per year, but he won't say that publicly. Or maybe a combination of the two.

The one point there that might be legit it not wanting to play the triple option. Nobody wants to go have their linemen's knees taken out playing a G5 when games like that, from the P5 perspective, are basically a dime a dozen and interchangeable.

Getting Mizzou for a H&H would be great. I'd love it for football but have actually wondered if it might be more realistic (and frankly, more beneficial at this point) for basketball.

I would tend to agree with the notion that at this point in our progression any P5 is a good P5 for H&H series. I am also among those that believed the first 3-4 years in the FBS would be painful for a fan base accustomed to winning and championships. This program has blown that out of the water, so who is to say going after the higher profile P5 programs is out of reach?

Sure there were extenuating circumstances that helped our case with Miami, but the entire App State nation seized the opportunity and is now making the most of it. Land the CHeaters, and why go after the next level? I follow the logic in targeting P5 teams in our recruiting footprint, but imagine scheduling UCLA, USC, or Cal and cracking the door on some California high school talent?
