Woooowww. I didn't think it was possible to have one poster, in a single post no less, embody everything that is wrong with and holding back our fan base, but you sir have done it.

You not only suggest that we're insane and should know our place ("on our level") but you then top it all off by suggesting we should join the heels bandwagon!

I'd rather jump off Howard's Knob.

Personally, I won't respect them until they sack up and schedule us. In the past decade they've played just about every FCS/FBS in the carolinas except for us and that's no coincidence.

Their fans are throwing a complete tantrum on our Twitter just because someone else in the state is having success and even though we'll never get the spotlight they do, they can't stand it. I love it!

I won't respect UNC until they lower their flags, march straight back to Chapel Hill stopping at every home they pass by to beg forgiveness for one hundred years of academic fraud, disporportional tax funding, and institutional hubris.

Do that, and I'll respect UNC, do it not, and I'll troll the Tar Heels any chance I get
.
AppOrange:"Ha ha ha you are outmuched, you have no ACC schedule. You play in the Sun Belt."

I'M NOT FINISHED!! Before we lay off the Holes, Larry Fedora must cross the field at Kidd Brewer Stadium, present himself before this message board, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse.

The quote function doesn't work very well for me on Tapatalk but check "Charley Hustle"s original post (on page 1, I believe) and I think I summed up his thoughts pretty well. That kind of mentality will not help us continue to grow our fan base.

It quoted fine and I didn't find anything about his post offensive or worthy of your outburst. You just put a ton of words in his mouth and went on a little diatribe.

He said "Let me add a little sanity to this discussion", which he clearly wasn't calling anybody insane, just saying that we are getting ahead of ourselves and being unreasonable.

He never at any point said that we should "know our place". He was saying that our program is great compared to other G5 programs. Which is a statement of fact and not a slap in the face to our team or fan base in any way, shape, or form. In fact, it's a compliment when you consider that we only just finished our first full season.

At no point did he ever suggest that anybody cheer for UNC. You simply made that part up.

If we lined up and played UNC they would be the favorites and they should beat us by about two touchdowns. This isn't Torbush's Tarheels anymore. Fedora is no slouch. Keeping the game that close would actually be pretty impressive considering we don't even have a full roster of FBS recruits right now.

Being honest about where we are as a program and having realistic expectations is important. That allows you to grow your fan base slowly and surely with diehard fans, not bandwagoners. I want us to be like Texas A&M, who fills a 100,000+ seat stadium every home game and doesn't beat anybody of note, not like Miami who doesn't get anybody to show up unless they're undefeated. Treating other fans the way that you have in this thread are how you don't build a fan base. Who wants to get talked to like that? Who wants to have their words twisted so they can be attacked on a whim?

Bro, it's a message board. From the tone of the post , he was insinuating that we would lose by more than two TDs. Sarcasm and tongue in cheek diatribes are my only recourse. Lighten up. I'll bet you "Charley Hustle" cheers for the holes during bball season.

It's not hard to read between the lines of what he posted.

It would be great if you would stop "reading between the lines" and start just reading the actual words.

Suppose! Next year we go 12-0. A 1 loss UT and 1 loss U both win their conf championships. Where do you think that would put App in the conversation?
Interesting thought....

See where I differ is that I hope we never schedule them. I don't respect them and don't care if they respect us. They run a dirty program in addition to their attitude problem. There are so many great programs we can play why would we want to play them.

I'd say you're probably correct if we're judging it right now, but there's not a lot of difference between 2-5 in my opinion.

Yeah, Record-wise we're probably a strong #2, but then you get into strength of schedule, yada yada people split hairs and I just can't see us taking out UNC, Duke or NC State in a head-to-head.

My own personal opinion...

UNC finished the season nationally ranked and talked about as a playoff contender, Duke finished 8-5 (9-4 if you ignore the bogus loss to Miami) lost to fairly strong teams who went on to their own bowls, NC State, same thing although, App had the strong record but plays in a weak conference, ECU went 5-7 and fired their coach, Wake Forest went 3-9 and sucked, UNCC went 2-10 and sucked even harder.

The list is pretty accurate I think, other than maybe an argument could be made that App and NC State could be switched, seeing that we had a better record and played and beat three of the same teams and won our bowl game. Although I'd still argue playing Florida State, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Clemson and UNC gave them a tougher schedule than App.

I think we'd match up pretty well against Duke. Maybe not as well against NC State, but they're as wasteful as we tend to be at times.

Well, next year will be telling. We will share an opponent (UM) with UNC-CH, NC State, and Duke (also Notre Dame, Pitt, UVA, VT, GT). Although one game is not definitive, should give us more information on where we stand compared with these other in-state teams.

You don't have to be an acc fan to see that UNC has the superior football team this year. Duke and NC State have better athletes overall, but we could probably hang around with them.

NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?

Unread post by Appftw » Fri Jan 01, 2016 3:24 am

I think we would have lost if we played them in a bowl game, but mid-season when we were in peak form it would've been interesting. We weren't just beating Sun Belt opponents, we were crushing them. Georgia Southern ran into a buzzsaw and I think App would've beaten a lot of teams with that kind of performance, but as I said depth would be a bigger issue later in the season for us with an ACC schedule.
