The 23rd is a tough date for sure. I checked game times, to see if it was possibly a 12 or 1:00 start. No such luck. Go Daddy is an 8:00 PM start. (On 12/19, Camellia at 5:30, Cure at 7, New Orleans at 9). Not going to worry about it now- Beat Troy!

While most of us would prefer another Bowl, playing and beating a ranked Toledo team in the GoDaddy bowl would ASSURE us of being the first Top 25 ranked team in Sun Belt history. This could do wonders in recruiting for us.

They all have positives and negatives about them. GoDaddy would likely give us the highest profile match-up, R&L New Orleans and Cure would be the best fan experiences, and the Camellia would give us the shortest travel distance and easiest match-up.
No matter what I'm just excited to go bowling in year 1.

Re: Where will we go bowling?
One point of order: Just as we can't assume App is going to win out, Toledo has a lot of work left to do too. They could lose to either Northern Illinois or Western Michigan and not even make the MAC championship game. They could lose in the MAC title game to Bowling Green (who themselves might be a top 25 team if they run the table, so that wouldn't be bad either).
Or of course, Toledo could run the table and get the access bowl spot, in which case GoDaddy would be getting a MAC team with at least 4 losses.

Re: Where will we go bowling?
For me, I would prefer to go the the Cure Bowl, not because of the location, but the date. I teach, so the bowl games on the 19th mean I have to go to the Principal and ask if I can take a day on the 18th. The 18th is the last day of school before Christmas Vacation. He will probably let me, but he may not be pleased.
Since my wife and I have no kids, our parents have passed, and our siblings could care less, the 23rd works for me.
Either way, barring a catastrophe, I will be at whatever bowl App plays in.

So you want the GoDaddy. The Cure Bowl is on the 19th. It's GoDaddy that's on the 23rd.kiddbrewer wrote:For me, I would prefer to go the the Cure Bowl, not because of the location, but the date. But also keep in mind that the bowls on the 19th are all in the evening. The earliest one is 5:30 (Camellia), the Cure is at 7 and the NO Bowl is at 9 ET. So you could always do your school thing on the 18th and still make it to the bowl on time.

Yes, you are correct. I got the Go Daddy mixed up with the others.appchicago wrote:So you want the GoDaddy. The Cure Bowl is on the 19th. As to the evening games on the 19th, I would want to get there the day before.
I did the first National Championship in '05 by getting there the day of. I felt like I missed everything.

Re: Where will we go bowling?
I definitely recommend getting to bowl cities the day before the game. Even for night games, there are plenty of activities and promotions that get the party started the night before. Not to mention, going hard on Friday night the 18th is less of a concern if you have longer to sleep it off on Saturday and still make plenty of time for tailgating and the game.

Re: Where will we go bowling?
ESPN has us currently projected for the GoDaddy Bowl against Toledo. Seeing the amount of exposure the Rockets have been getting lately with their undefeated streak, that matchup could have a lot of attention on it, and as others have said, a national ranking at stake.
