Re: ticket sales gaso
I think the walk up crowd will be solid.
I posted a thread on a message board that I spend a lot of time on about this game (not a sports board either) and there were people not associated with either program who said they were coming up the mountain to check it out, just because they thought it would be fun. They're football fans and get the "buzz" around this game.
Is it time to tailgate yet?

While I'm all for viewing parties for most games, I'd rather everyone who can't make the game stay home and watch it to help boost the viewer numbers. We're going head to head against Temple v ECU on the duece with Cal v UCLA airing at 9 on the mothership. I don't expect GS v App to beat them since the game is on the U but I'd like to see a strong competitive showing.

I'm not sure how cable ratings are calculated, but how about I leave my TV on.moonshine wrote:While I'm all for viewing parties for most games, I'd rather everyone who can't make the game stay home and watch it to help boost the viewer numbers. Tell everyone you know to turn their tv on whether they actually watch or not!
I'm guessing it's much easier to track nowadays with digital boxes but my sophomore year Nielsen paid me (very little) to place their equipment in my apartment. IIRC, the technician told me I accounted for about 35,000 viewers.

Unless you have a Nielsen box or journal, nobody's tracking what you watch.
Online viewing is different, I believe. I think WatchESPN tracks all viewers, and I know the Uverse mobile app has an option to allow Nielsen tracking.

I am not supposed to say anything so I will not. But let's just say I am doing what I can to make sure the ratings are as high as possible.moonshine wrote:Tell everyone you know to turn their tv on whether they actually watch or not!

Hopefully all those kids are working in pig farms by now.AppinATL wrote:Oh crap. I hate their band worse than I hate their football team. Of course, we all know Harvey's will have the game, so that's taken care of for those in LKN that can't make the game!JTApps1 wrote:I got a similar email from the Charlotte chapter, and had the same thought as you. I can see where some people in this area would be a little more hesitant to come with a 2 hour drive home, but at the same time I don't think we should ever actively promote viewing parties to local areas for home games.GOAPPS37 wrote:I know I will get grief from some of you for making this observation but I just received an e-mail from the Catawba Valley ASU Alumni chapter inviting all area APP fans to come watch the game at the Hickory Tavern in Hickory (just 40 minutes from Boone). Everyone who attends this event will have a reason for not being able to make the trip to Kidd Brewer Stadium and support the players when they need it the most, but I find it hard to believe that you can't make it to Boone and watch the game live, but be able to get out of the house for several hours and watch it on the tube. If this gathering was in Atlanta or even Raleigh, I would be more accepting. Again, just one man's observation. Let the bashing commence.
Good job! I know Charlie from Harvey's was at the game too. I'm all for viewing parties for road games as it's a great way to get fans together.

Re: ticket sales gaso
I'm pretty sure StubHub is a marketplace for previously purchased tickets to be resold, like ebay. Also, when folks say there are no tickets for sale "online", they may not be referring to the ASU official ticket site bit the resell sites like StubHub or ebay. I sold my 1 extra ticket (under face value) to a student, maybe not from APP, that was with other students, and he just wanted to get in and GA it with his friends.
